Undertray / Bellypan

Post by Mon-Eye »

So I do about 4 miles a day off road on my little pcx and was alway conscious I would damage the bottom off the engine (sump area) on bumps and ruts so made a sump guard out off some tough 10mm thick nylon. 2 weeks ago while following a car on the asphalt a branch was flung up by car infront and ended up wedged under the bike after it smashed through the bottom pannel (bellypan). So today I decided I'd fabricate a full stainless steel belly pan and plastic welded the broke pannels. Then using what was left off the original bellypan panel and and lower side panels to mount it. I'm quite happy with the results and it's much more durable. I have now after testing it, swapped the plastic trim rivets for m8 stainless nuts and bolts with 50mm penny washers begind. I have also used tiger seal to bond the pannel on and act as a noise damper too. Ill be addind all new suspension soon and adding 50mm more ride height to the rear for more ground clearance and better steering too. Let me know your thoughts on it. I'm also now toying with making a stainless steel bash guard for under the engine too
