Seat change

Decided it was time to ditch the "hump"....

Plenty of choice here in Thailand and easy to "try before you buy" - the shop i went to had about 30 different styles for the pcx....

One of the tricks is to go for a seat that uses the original Honda seat base / rubber seal, as some of the replica's are cheap and ill fitting....

The one i went for looks pretty much identical to the standard fitment on the new 2014 model, so seemed an obvious choice and was much more cumfy than the "king and queen" ones favoured by some.

price, with my original "hump'd" seat taken in p/x was circa $37 USD (supplied and fitted).....

Good old Thailand.....

It looks gorgeous on your bike!
Here in EU the seats are expensive (above 100 € with shipping), so I had to put my original seat to upholster and for 35 € it will become humpless

i think where you are, its deffo the way forward...if you buy mail order and when it arrive its pants....you're skuppered......

Looks great. It only took me about 2 weeks to get sick of the hump. I had mine re-upholstered for $140; the guy sculpted firm foam to match the contours of the seat base, and covered it with wicked nice textured vinyl meant for marine applications...I love it. (Regarding the 2014 model foto you posted...IMO the new seat looks like it will still "decide" where your butt goes, much like the hump did.)

Smart move Walter. Can we see a photo of your custom saddle? I like the fact that you mentioned textured marine vinyl. Does this mean "no" bum sliding?

OK. Took foto, shrunk it, so here goes...my modified PCX seat. DJ pulled the old vinyl and showed me how he would have to cut out the piers on which the hump bolts were attached; then, cut and bend a rectangle of aluminum, and rivet that in place; then, he hand-sculpted a firm foam block to follow the curve already in the seat base. Really nice work, $140 - a little more than having it shipped from Thailand, but this way, I knew what I was getting. And he got it back to me in 1 day!

a good idea to get your existing seat re-upholstered if you're in a country where PCX bits are scarse.....

your man has done a good job...looks very "original".....

now some YSS shocks - unfortunately you can get your existing shocks moddied to replicate YSS ones....lol....

It feels awesome; it allows me to *scoot* back on the seat, extend my legs a little, and feel more balanced and relaxed. I decided to modify after I removed the hump and rode around. I found that my butt wanted to be exactly over the two piers into which the hump bolts are mounted, about 3 inches farther back than the hump allowed.

Excellent. The hump never bothered me, but I have short legs. The hump's generally the main complaint about the PCX, so I'm glad that sorted it out.

I need the hump, because my wife would sit more forward on the seat giving me even less room to sit. With it there, it forces her to sit back further! lol
