They are not going to sell the X in Oz. A soft roader wouldnt cut it here. But I am interested in the S, probably not the DCT version though. Love the helmet storage in the dummy tank! The white one will compliment my white PCX nicely. Its supposed to be available by June.

From what I have read the redline is a bit lower and its geared for mileage. I'll be eyeing the dual clutch version as some of the reviews say you'll be changing gears like crazy. The dealers told me they won't have anything till June.

Redline is at about 6500rpm, very much like a car engine from a econobox. From what I've read in the reviews, you don't need to change gear more than with other bikes, as you can use the lower RPMs like you would in a car. Personally I'd still go for the DCT version though, but that's just because the PCX has made me a convert :)

I was talking 75-80 mpg us :oops:

53mpg US is basically as good as a Prius or any economy car driven really lightly (I got ~45mpg in my old Civic). I doubt the wife would approve of that low mpg. :lol:

Might be every fourth service for checking the valves, similar to the CBR250R valve check interval which is 30,000 miles.
Probably quicker and easier to get at the valves on an NC700S than a PCX.

Well reality is that as soon as you hit 70+ mph, any bike or car is going to consume quite some fuel. With the economic setup of the NC700 engine, at least you can hope that it'll consume less than most bikes and cars of similar performance.

The first few entries at Fuelly.com seem to be mighty promising though, it's hard not getting excited about a bike that can do an indicated 110mph and according to these guys, 60+ mpg as well: http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/honda/nc700x

Has anyone here sat on or ridden the NC700 S or integra? Im going to pop down to my honda dealer this week to see if or when they will be in the show room here, as I need a weekend tourer. Until I see, feel, sit on, and ride them, I cant decide between the two.

Not bad, but still, 60 UK MPG is good, but far from great. The few in the 70's are appealing though (that's almost 60mpg US for those of you on my side of the pond). :lol: We've seen almost twice that mpg from some PCXes. I think I'd settle on 60mpg though. I'll wait a couple of years and buy one used. ;)

I sat on a NC700X, as you'd expect it was pretty roomy. I have no idea how the NC700S or Integra feel.

I was meant to test ride both the s and integra. Dealer did not have them ready and ha e not been back since. Might go down over next 2 days. The s dct version is everything I want in my next bike but I have to wait 12 months for car payment to finish or wifey will kill me!

the S version with DCT also looks like it would be my bike, but as far as I can tell the -X version is a lot more popular over here (Germany). That could play a part in resale value

BTW, according to the German NC700 forum, the NC700X (and presumably the -S) with DCT definitely comes with the 38KW engine mapping, so it's not just the Integra!

Tbh if the NC can't normally achieve 80mpg I think I would rather have one of these:

The list of other motorcycles with ~50HP that can even hope to achieve that kind of economy regularly is very short. And for what it's worth, I've seen people claim to have achieved 100 UK MPG on one fill-up. I think that's rather optimistic though.

I went to the local dealer and they had no plans to bring in a 700S or an integra and I said I wont be buying one without seeing it, so now I am considering a V-Strom 650/ABS. Sat on one and its nice and with plenty of aftermarket accessories. Still need to add a centre stand as an 'extra' :( I also sat on a Versys and that was not quite as nice for my body (including harder to throw my leg over when wearing my protective waterproof overtrousers!) and had a silly little windscreen that would need replacing straight away.

My dealer has all 3 bikes but only the Integra has the DCT as standard and the others are manual. Initially i thought Integra looked butt ugly in photos but in the burgundy colour in the showroom it looks better in the flesh. After sitting on it i decided it is not for me as feel very clumsy to me and cumbersome. I am used to smaller bikes such as sv650s. I then tried the 700s for size and i am only 5 foot 6 but can flat foot it wearing biking boots. When i asked about the X they took it round for me and i tried that for size. Seat height a lil taller than the S but the weight feels ok. I really liked the size of the helmet storage area as can hold quite a bit. I always thought i would prefer the S version but after seeing the X thats the model for me. The bike in X guise looks lovely with the extra bit of fairing and the slightly taller screen to the S version. The screen on the X helps a lot on faster roads i was told as Stephen the sales man rides it.
Might have a chance to take a test ride this afternoon on the X otherwise will have to be some other time. The DCT is about 800 or so more as an option if i remember right but looks very straight forward and just like changing gears on a mountain bike if you want to change manually. Stephen says the DCT works very well as an auto or manual.

Wow, it's funny seeing how HUGE it is next to the PCX. What a gorgeous bike though, the red looks awesome.
