Piaggio X10

If I ever upgraded my PCX to something bigger this would be a strong contender. I am keen on the ABS 350 or 500 version with preference for the 350 at moment (its cheaper!). Its not available in Australia till 2013 though. Today is our local monthly touring scooter ride. I went on one of them but they now suggest 250cc as minimum size for the tours.

Any comments on the X10?

Yes, its bloody fantastic looking and I am lusting after one: http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=332
IMO the 350 is the one to have, far better engine than the old tech 500 lump.

They're gorgeous, but costly. :(

Might be able to pick up a used one on the cheap though.

I don't think we get them in the USA, because I've never seen one in person.

They have only just started selling them here, I've yet to see one on the road.
Price is very good given the high specification.

Really well made scoot. Wet clutch, ABS/ASR as an option. ASR I think you can live without, but ABS in a scooter this heavy is a really good idea. A bit pricey, though.

I really liked the Sym Maxsym 400i. Have a look at it if you haven't ;) .

Here in the UK the X10 Exec 350 with ABS/ASR costs the same as the Maxsym 400.
ABS is a good thing to have on any scooter imo.

The Maxsym is currently 5200€ here. How much is the X10 Exec in the UK?.

Guess who's been sitting on an X10 :)

Very plush. The thing that got me most was the width of its seat. Its very spacious and comfortable and I can imagine it would be great for long distance touring.

The under seat storage compartment was an odd shape and not very deep, it might be awkward for shopping and stuff.

It was black with a brown seat. I'm not keen on brown and OI would prefer another white bike. They said they only just got the scooter delivered last week and that there are no demonstrators available with any of the (UK) dealers for the moment.

They offered me £2.5k for the KTM 125 Duke in part ex which isn't bad for a dealer, but only £800 for the PCX because of its high miles - 14.3k at the moment.

Hmmm. X10 in white (end Oct delivery date), NC700x or KTM 690 Enduro R. My head says X10 but my heart says KTM.

X10 for me every time over any KTM.
You can get two XL flip helmets under the seat of an X10 with room to spare, that storage area is more than twice as big as the one in a PCX.
There are demonstrators available in the UK, I've seen reports from members of other forums who have had test rides on them.

 I'm sure he can private-sell it for way more.

I think it's funny how people consider over 10k miles "high mileage" on a scooter. People are morons, the engine's just finished getting broken in then. :D

In the UK 5000 miles a year is considered a lot by the leather joyboys who only ride as a sunny day hobby.
It's not at all unusual to see two year old bikes for sale with less than a thousand miles on the clock.

That's insane. I've put more than 600 miles on many of my bikes in a day.

Tell you what, give me £4000 and you can have the PCX and the KTM. That's a fair price.

No. Nor are you paying £850 for a pcx. Look at it this way - pcx £1200, Duke £2800 or more like Duke £2900+ and pcx £1200.
See you're already making money ;)
