Achieving 70mph

Post by outlander »

What mods do I need to get to 70mph? Not too sure on what weighters, rollers and variator are.

I also want to add that I do not want to do anything that will harm mpg. I understandnd if the motor is turning at that highig will use more gas, but around town i.e. up to 45mph will the mpg drop?

Try Dr Pulley sliders first, 12 or 13g in the stock variator that might just get you the 70mph and much better acceleration
for cheap so long as you're not a fatso. Gas usage wont be much of a factor

Im 220lbs. Whats the difference between 12-13g?

Doesn't it require a new belt?

1g lol.
You Won't need a new belt, unless youre's has a lot of mileage on it. Best advice is learn a bit about variators first so you know what they are and how they work, your 220lbs might take more than just sliders though tbh

I'd rather get it right the first time instead of wasting $30. Ill look into variators bug can you advise me on a good one thanks. If I can get a true 70mph it will be awesome.

I just have 11g Dr Pulley sliders and hit 71mph with headwind. I'm 6'2" and almost 260lbs.
If I was to do it again I'd probably go with 10g sliders, but I doubt there's much in it...
Acceleration is greatly improved and takes the scooter from adequate to a little bit naughty.
Having said that, the scooter is probably more comfortable holding 68mph, but i have the stock screen...

People who regularly make changes to the CVT can do it in 30 minutes.
If you take your time and do it right first go, put aside 60 minutes or more.
Installation is fairly easy, just pay close attention to how things come apart.

Bloody hell Gav, thats awesome, imagine what it could do with my measly 180! A visit to the Dr is next after the wheel/shock mods I think

Yep, and before the sliders it was flatout doing 59mph...

You also have to consider I'm quite broad at almost 2' across the shoulders, so I make a great air brake too.
So there's really no reason not to invest in sliders, and then you can re-use them with a variator down the track.

Dont forget your 15 150 will only do 64mph(rev limited) versus the 13 150's 68mph...
So you will at least need a variator and sliders(or rollers).
do you research on what will be best for your 15.

I upgraded the variator to a malossi multivar kit and the difference was amazing compared to stock which was 62mph top speed, to 75-79mph(ideal conditions with a windshield). A windshield is a must for us big "air brake" type frames it helps dramatically both acceleration and top end.
