Most Ingenious Way to Carry a . . .

Post by PCX150Rider »

Scooters are known for their utility and usefulness to carry all kinds of things. If you observe what people do around the world with them it is truly awesome. I just wondered if any PCX riders out there have ever carried some kind of "off the wall" thing that you just wouldn't expect to see or found an ingenious way to load up camping gear or whatever. For me, I thought it was a big deal to be able to carry a gas can on the deck of my 49cc machine, with my pet carrier and saddle bags fully loaded with groceries. I had thought about trying to load a rolled up 2-man inflatable rubber boat with the oars etc. . .but just didn't find the time last year. So when I get my PCX I'm going to avoid using my car unless I absolutely have to. It doesn't have a deck like a traditional scooter but I'm not going to let that stop me from getting creative. Anybody got any good "I remember the time when. . ." stories? Anyone carried a flat screen TV or anything? Just kidding. . . but inquiring minds would like to know.

Now that's what I'm talkin about. . .instead of carrying the boat on the scooter. . .the scooter is the boat!

Check out this YouTube video. . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcoyXakewPw

Cheers! :D

I once had plans to ride a scooter to northern France and Belgium, and wanted to take my cycle with me in order to ride some of the classic cobbled roads used in cycle races. But no matter what framework I dreamt up to hold the frame, it didn't look right ...or safe to be honest. I doubt I could have got through customs with it anyway, and my insurers would have had a field day claiming I had changed the scooter without notifying them blah blah!
But the idea of it still seems perfectly sensible.......so I'm especially keen to see what others have managed!

Carried a 5' Xmas tree home on the back of my Honda 175 bike in 1969. While in Army training in Tx. our bike was our only transportation. Good little bike during a war... to paraphrase Dylan..

I know that there are some on this forum who have taken their bikes camping, Dave being one of them, so that isn't something new. I think there was someone who carried fishing gear as well. Then, of course, there are this families in Thailand that all pile onto the scooter together to go shopping.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Oh yeah. . .the people who rely on scoots for their living or it "is" the family car so-to-speak really set the bar on what you can do with what you have. I've seen pics of people carrying livestock, 5 or 6 family members, multiple sacks of whatever, couches, multiple cages of ducks, you name it. Sadly in comparison I don't even come close to their efficiency or survival skills. That being said I haven't given up finding new ways to use my scooter, and soon the PCX, that would not put me in immediate danger or trouble with the local gendarmes. For now, I will just make the SUV drivers jealous that I'm having a better time than they are.

Here's my 80 MPG, 60 LPH (Laughs Per Hour) machine.

I've taken my PCX to the golf course before, wearing the clubs on my back on the highway. Got some funny looks that time.

If you think people loading up bikes is funny, check out this page, it's amazing what some people can fit on a bike: https://www.reddit.com/r/MotorcycleLogi ... =top&t=all

Previously rides: 2005 V-Strom DL650, 1974 Vespa Ciao, 2011 Honda PCX 170 (tons of mods - takegawa 170cc big bore kit, gears, etc), 1996 Honda Nighthawk 250, 1987 Honda Spree, 2000 KTM 125SX, 2003 Honda Silverwing, 2007 Genuine Buddy 125, 1998 Honda PC800, 2008 Buddy 125 (white), 2008 Buddy 125 (red), 2001 Honda Reflex, 1987 Honda Elite, 1988 Honda Spree, 2007 Yamaha Vino, 2007 Honda Metro, 2x 125cc pure-chinesium dirt bikes

This universal bags I bought in Thailand...

Also easy for install/remove: screw it to inner box and made some stay from steel wire connectet on rear fender, so that the bags lay on it but not on exaust pipe and air filter cover box.

My PCX regularly carries a full sized Chicaboo. And the only thing bigger than that is a Fish.

My pcx loaded
For some bizarre reason I'm not seeing the picture of your PCX. Must be a technical glitch or coding issue. :geek:
If you think people loading up bikes is funny, check out this page, it's amazing what some people can fit on a bike:
A freaking refrigerator. Holy cow !!! And then some. . . great pics. o_O
This universal bags I bought in Thailand...
Nice bags. . .I'm going to try and re-purpose the ones I have now on my R50 (previous picture posting) on the PCX when I get it. If they aren't quite working out I may put them back on my Sport Touring Bike and get a pair of these as described on the video. You can get them from a variety of places. They are known as Scooter Logic Saddle Bags https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4uGlWzCK34 :geek:

Lets take a moment and try to imagine relocating some folks to America and imposing our restrictions and limitations on their activities or freedom who's accustom to living the way we see in this picture. No fear of fines, incarceration or health and welfare authorities showing up to take your children for non compliance of safety laws.

Then imagine what would happen to me if I took my grand kids for ride in the back of a pickup truck or set them out on a bike without a helmet o_O Why do people want to come here again?

worlds apart 8)
LOVE THE PICTURES!!!!
