Lowering a SH300i A G 2017

Hi All,

I'm 5'6" and on tiptoes with my new SH300i. I'd love to lower it a couple of inches.

I've been to my local blacksmith who was only able to offer me a 10mm reduction with YSS shocks for £200. The standard shocks are 400mm, I've dropped them to the softest setting but no good. I have looked at shaving the seat but there's not much can be taken off.

I sat on a Kawasaki J300 the other day and it was a good 3" lower. Why make the Honda so high ?

Has anyone lowered the bike ? When I ordered I didn't even think it would be too high for me.

Let the air out the tyres? (don't do that, just an old joke)

Before you come to a stop slide right forward on the seat, this should help some.

Just keep in mind that lowering it too much would affect the handling and ground clearance.

I don't believe that they are sold in the United States but looking at videos of it I don't see too much that can be done to lower it. Look at the ground clearance. Getting "lowering shocks" might lower it an inch in the back, and if a mechanic knew what he was doing he might be able to do the same in the front, but that is about as low as you could take the entire bike.

You are correct about the fact that there isn't much in the seat that can be taken out, so it looks like the majority of the height is in the machine itself.

My wife bought some boots with 3 inch soles so that she can ride. That may be your solution as well.

Sorry.

This kind of bracket would be just the job. Now all i need to do is find one.

Need to make sure that at maximum compression the tyre doesn't rub on the body, the engine doesn't hit anything and there's enough slack in the pipes/cables/wiring.

I can scrape the centre stand cornering on my SH, without it being lowered.

Just sayin'.

I’ve scraped the centre stand too. These brackets are supposed to give about 40 mm. I’d be happy to be a bit more careful cornering so I don’t look like such a twit trying to get my feet down when I’m pulling up.

These brackets for the Forza which I think has the same 26mm wide clevis. Trying to order them from Japan. Fingers crossed.

Did you read up on the Takegawa Lowering Shocks? I know you want to lower it as much as possible so it just seems logical to check the lowering shocks as well as everything else.

Hi Mel46,

I don't think I have come across the Takegawa shocks for the SH300i yet. I did try to order the black brackets above from Japan but have been told they are not available.

The forza 300 and SH300i both have 27mm wide Clevis joints at the bottom and i have found a bracket for the Forza in Bangkok. I am now trying to order these and yes theres a very good chance they wont fit on the SH300i and may need modification.

I like the concept. Not only could you lower the bike, the greater shock angle (more leverage) would give make for a softer ride. Much needed for me.

Looks good. No mods?
This won't work on the PCX cause the speedo drive on the port side is in the way.

Be careful with the brackets that you’re showing above. There are several places online that show that it pulls back on the cover case, rather than down and pulls the cover case apart. I will post a picture here somewhere. I put them on my bike and took them back off after the picture was sent to me.
