Nice little town nestled away from the Big Apple. I foolishly thought it was where the big music festival was back in August of '69 and found out that it had taken place in Bethel NY.
It's "the" original site of the concert. Things were happening during the '60's. The VW Beetle and Microbus were icons of that era.

Pretty sad looking town.
We all read about Woodstock, and saw the pics in a raggedy TIME mag. It was tossed from hole to hole one morning after a Mad Minute, somewhere between Plei Mei & Pleiku, SVN.
"Kids" playing in the mud - only ours was laterite red.

I had finished my 4 year military obligation by that time, and i had moved on to normal life adventures. I had a daughter that was a little over a year old by then, and I was trying to keep up with my obligations. I think that I would have liked to have been up there at the concert, but life does go on, and Woodstock was not reality.

I like that town, they can't all look like yours fish. Re-think that! They got coffee!
That's a Merc Comet! Year? 1962/63?
I stole my parents '63 Pontiac Tempest for an hour whilst they were visiting family Immediate neighbor saw me return with it I knew I'd be ratted on. Haha! Never happened. Never ratted on. I always provided them with garden tomatoes. Seeee, that worked!
Anywho, back to the vid, I want that Lime Green Civic!! And the standup figures of Lennon and Hendrix! Very Cool!
Screw that guy with finger problems who cares!
Enjoyed that Ez. Those were Times of Great Music! Thems were HippyDays!
Those WERE the Days!
My friends they took off in a VW Bus to the Woodstock Festival. I remained behind. Father said "no!" Such a strict guy. He had me mad for a week, maybe more.
My friend's Really enjoyed the Concert, sloppy weather and all. From what I was told, a lot of the Attendees flew higher than those on stage. It was "The sign of the times." I won't go any further on that, and that's na-kid truth!
Today, Do I regret not going? No, I'm okay with it. I guess that's because I attended "The Festival of Hope" that came later in 1972 on Aug. 12 and 13th at Roosevelt Raceway, Westbury, NY.
A weekend filled with music. Noon to midnight each day.
Not on the scale of a Woodstock concert by any means - But one that I will Never Ever forget!
I was close, behind the fence just several rows back. Right in front of performers. Somewhere

You could go a long way on $10 back then.
To think you could go to a show featuring all those rock legends for so little $$$. Wow!!!
On another weekend you could take a date to a movie and still have enough for McDonalds on the way home, buy couple of 45 RPM records, and put gas back in the tank for Mom and Dad. Wow. . .times were good.
I'm going to guess gas was around 40 cents a gallon then. Somewhere in the early '70's I remember Sunoco 260 (102 Octane?) being 60 cents a gallon.
Shazam! Indeed!!!

This is the one I attended in my home town in 1969. http://www.djtees.com/blogs/djtees-blog ... tival-1969
Squamish was a full tilt working redneck town in those days, loggers miners and bikers, just a normal party for us locals.
More spandex and fluff now. I enjoyed myself although it did get somewhat dicey at times.

Poco and the Grass Roots too?. . .two great Bands!
You were most fortunate to see them.

In 1971 I went back into the military, Coast Guard aviation, so I still missed out on outdoor concerts like those. Essentially, during those times I was of those times but not IN those times. I'm not sure that I would have changed much. I didn't know what I wanted in life back then, and I was just getting by. Growing up is hard.

In our youth do we really know what we want?? Doesn't matter anyway. Your destiny was already pre arranged.

Life is a lunch. . ..
It begins at birth. . .and shortly thereafter we have another. . .and another. . .and another.
Always looking forward to the next one. So it get's served on the table (we have it). We grab it and take a big bite (we are having it). It's good? Maybe. . .and we finish it and have to decide are we satisfied or do we want more food. Once the satisfaction level is achieved we are OK (unless in gorge mode) for awhile.
Then. . .some time later. . .we are getting hungry (or bored). . .we are thinking about another lunch. . .but maybe something different this time. . .cheeseburgers can get old after awhile and maybe pizza would be apropos. . .so pizza it must be in order to think we will feel satisfied. . ..
Pizza is served, we take a bite, it's good (perhaps in contrast to other pizzas we've had), we finish, and so it goes. . .and goes and goes until we don't show up for the next lunch.
It never gets any better than a lunch, a dry place to eat it, comfortably warm surroundings, and just enough earthly possessions to deal with the environment. Anything else is tail chasing. But sometimes it takes a lifetime of lunches to realize that. . .. In the mean time that new scooter, flat screen TV, car, set of golf clubs. . .whatever. . . is fun to have while you are self discovering.
Life is lunch. . .. Would you like fries with that?

...and some are lucky enough to understand that life isn't all about the lunch, or the things that you collect around you while eating that lunch.
Our destiny is not fixed in clay, but many are comfortable where they are and don't want to make the effort to change. Sometimes change will make all the difference, but it is up to us.

Let's hear it..How do you account for complete assholes becoming millionaires, presidents, and leaders of countries? and how some hit the lottery and some live under a bridge, some die at 3 yrs old and some die at 103? Luck you say..it's all by design.!???? That's the next question.
You cannot change your destiny because any change you make is your destiny.

And that is your opinion stated as if it were a fact, which it isn't. Unless you have proof...?
