Forza NSS300 (2013 - 17) handbrake question.

Post by erisaman »

A query for our Thailand based (or visited) members who have had experience of the Forza.

Can you please advise if the 'old' model Forza 300 as supplied in Thailand, is equipped with a handbrake as standard? I know the USA has them, Canada hasn't nor Europe etc - but I'm interested to know about Thailand please.

Thank you ;) .

That's interesting. ....Euro & Canadian models don't have a parking brake? Guess it does involve a lot of extra parts. ....when an elastic band on the lever would suffice.

The parking brake is only marketed in an area where idiots predominate.

That's the USA if you are struggling.

Parking brake is mandatory equipment required by law on all motor vehicles in the United States after I think 1983.

Parking brake on normal motorcycles?
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

No, no. Talking scooters, not cars and trucks.
Parking brakes are handy...a Kymco LIKE 50 has one, but not the 163cc model.
Sometimes fitted when rear drums are present....but only sometimes.
Burgman 400 and the Forza had them, but my other 2 scoots do not. (So I use elastic bands on brake lever)

I guess there is a reason why motor cycles in USA have emergency brakes and not in other countries.. Perhaps this is the reason.. combination of any motor vehicle.?????
US Manufacturing applicable code: ????

(e)Emergency brakes, vehicles manufactured on or after July 1, 1973.
(1) A bus, truck, truck tractor, or a combination of motor vehicles manufactured on or after July 1, 1973, and not covered under paragraphs (d)(1) or (d)(2) of this section, must have an emergency brake system which consists of emergency features of the service brake system or an emergency system separate from the service brake system. The emergency brake system must meet the applicable requirements of §§ 393.43 and 393.52.
(2) A control by which the driver applies the emergency brake system must be located so that the driver can operate it from the normal seating position while restrained by any seat belts with which the vehicle is equipped. The emergency brake control may be combined with either the service brake control or the parking brake control. However, all three controls may not be combined.

That thing could be used as an emergency brake? Hoy.
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

Thanks to all who responded and the exchange of views and opinions - however, it's probably time to put the brake on (yes ... pun intended) as I have now been given my answer.

Thank you PingGam - appreciate that. Also like your location - Khon Kaen - not that I've visited that area but it's relevant to a new factory being built there for the production of modified scooters - principally PCX, Click and the Forza. An Orange Forza on the workbench as I write - but that's in Bangkok right now. I watch the Thailand Forza Club and the Forza Worker's Escape videos on Youtube - luv 'em.
