She's arrived

Well despite the forecast, I went to collect my PCX this morning. Left home to bright sunshine if slightly cold. Arrived at the dealers in torrential rain and gusting winds. Ah well.

Rode the PCX home which is 70% my commute route and first thoughts are . . . its perfect for me. Took some time to get used to an automatic, and the stop start is strange but I think I like it. There's only one very short stretch of derestricted road on my commute, the rest is 30, 40 and 50. I think the PCX will prove to be both financially beneficial and also quicker than a cage. Plus I can park it at work instead of driving around trying to find a space for hours in a morning.

Forgot to say, first words out of Mrs Anfield's mouth, 'oh I like it, it's cool.'

Ha, I wish. Actually I'm hoping she will get her licence this year so we can dump the kids and sneak off on the PCX and the Lambretta. Nice ride up to the Lakes, quiet meal, b&q then home the next day. Can't wait.

This is a major plus point for me too, a scooter can be parked just about anywhere at any time.

Me too. I work in a hospital and the staff car park is miles away. I can park the scooter about 20 yards away and I don't have to pay to park. Result :)

Congrats, Anfield! You've got tens of thousands, maybe more, fun miles ahead of you. The PCX is by far the most fun bike I've ridden. :D

I'm sure the other half will name her before long. She likes to call the Lambretta 'Betty'.

Me neither. Everybody says "ain't she a beauty". I guess it's taken for granted.

I just researched it and found this statement:

Because one way or another, they cost a lot of money.

I'd have to say that's a good reason. Glad my wife doesn't read this forum.

And I guess English is the language you were brought up with :D . For us who had to learn it, it was kind of confusing too, but it's as our friend says. I doubt anyone has the explanation at hand.

However, there are worse things. In my language, in general (there are a few exceptions that would be "she") a boat is a "he", a motorbike, a "she", a car is a "he", as it is an aircraft or a submarine, and each of those can be combined with four different articles according to their gender, or whether they are singular or plural  .

No more drifting off-topic ;) .

Congrats on your PCX, Anfield. I also ride regardless of the bad weather we usually enjoy in the north of Spain. At work I have a nice parking lot but sometimes I also ride her to work, too ;) .

We park ours on the sidewalk at the grocery store or other stores we go to. I think you will find this scooter to be the most fun you have ever had. Yes you have to get it serviced, and yes the tires wear out faster than on a car, but the fun factor is well worth it.
