Recall Notice on 2016 PCX

I have received a recall notice from Honda Australia, stating that .

"The voltage to the LED Control Unit may be inadequate. This can affect the performance of the turn signal, hazard & dimmer switches. The turn signal may not light and the high beam may not light even when the switches are operated. The low beam will still operate. To remedy this problem, Honda will replace the LED control unit (LCU), with a countermeasure part for your motorcycle, at no cost to you".

I'm interested to know if this is a local (Australian) problem, or more widespread?

It's also comforting to know that Honda still care about their products three years later. :D :D :D

Hi, I have 2016 pcx no recall yet I've been having turn signal problems for the last year or so they are intermittent ,for instance last Monday I rode it and the right signal was not working until I had covered a few miles then it worked all day a good ride of 104 miles , a new handlebar switch was fitted under warranty but it never fixed the problem so I have just lived with it my be it's a voltage problem, thanks for info.

I think earlier models were made in Thailand. Up until around 2013 . . ..

My 2017 PCX was made in Vietnam. Production in Vietnam started around 2014 so I'm thinking the 2015 and newer models were made in Vietnam.

Somewhere along the line around 2018 Honda started producing the PCX in Indonesia also.

They've progressed from the ESP, to LED, and now to Digital series PCXs. :geek:

To be honest homie. I'm not sure what year my bike is designated due to the confusing system dealers use. It's the first LED model released. Also I'm gradually losing brain cells and have no timeline in my mind to remember when I bought it. I could possibly look through my records to find when I actually bought it, but it's not that important to me.

I'll check it's age if I ever decide to sell it :) :) :)

To be honest homie. I'm not sure what year my bike is.
So this is funny, I grabbed my phone went to the garage to snap the sticker on the column and in the luggage box to help you know the year of your PCX... but there was no PCX in my garage    I might be too old to drive motor vehicles now.

No problem . . ..

I'll never delete my old PCX photos. Too many great memories in such a short period of time . . ..

This is what my sticker looked like (I removed the VIN from the photo). Made in Vietnam March of 2016 and it was a 2017 model.

That paint sure did sparkle. :D

There is no expiration on the recall and it doesn't say it effects your year does it Johnny. Blow it off and rest well to know about it if you ever see the symptoms :D

There's usually a time difference between the marketing and the manufacturing departments.
Marketing will sell you a 2017 model in 2016 which may have been manufactured as far back as 2015.
Its like they live in different universes.

I should have known how long I've owned it because my wife has just been given her 5 years clearance from cancer, and I got the bike just before she developed Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Life is good! :) :) :)

Not recalled, but here in the UK my 2016 PCX had the ecu replaced after a total failure at about 3,000 miles...
