Re: Rain riding
In my two trips motorcycling to Alaska the number one choice of bike by a large margin was Harley Davidson. One does not need a BMW to bike to Alaska.
Any bike will work.

Re: Rain riding
On my Iron Butt lap of Lake Superior, the last 400 miles was in sideways rain. My Forza shod with City Grips held firm and stuck like glue. # Verypleasedmhdgraphics wrote:What kind of tires do you like for rain riding?

Re: Pocket Plate and Helmet Holder
Just a guess here but could a "pocket plate" be something one puts under the side kick stand to prevent it from melting into the blacktop?
Again, just a guess.
Or it is the piece of plastic that slides into a track inside the left hand pocket. To put your wallet cell phone etc?

I go 210# and have found that 28# front 32# rear gives me the best ride. City Grips tires.

Re: Iron Butt on a Forza
I forgot two other mods. The handguards are Chic Design from Japan. I had them on a CB1100 but they fit the Forza perfect. And I bought a left side CB500X mirror on fleaBay. It helps cover that blind spot on interstate rides.

Re: Iron Butt on a Forza
I had no doubt that the Forza could do an Iron Butt. I know my beat up old body would never last that long. I recently did 370 miles in a day and that was painful. Congrats on the personal endurance. What pained you? I have Mallosi shocks and I sit on a Saddleman gel pad permanently mounted to a sh...

Iron Butt on a Forza
I just did an Iron Butt on my Forza June 24th. 30 riders departed Sault Ste. Marie, MI and had 24 hours to complete a 1052 mile lap of Lake Superior. I did it in 21 hours. My fuel stops were Wawa Ont, Marathon Ont, Nipigon Ont, Thunder Bay Ont, Tofte MN, Superior WI, Wakefield MI, Ishpheming MI, New...

Re: So are City Grips the way to go?
Is your Forza overloaded (too fat? 2up?) or do you run 80 mph on the highway? Tire inflation right? I go 210# geared up never two up on the Forza wife likes riding my bigger bikes yes I ride 70 - 80 mph on the freeways it is great fun I am anal about tire inflation I did not anticipate all your que...

Crappy pic I am sorry. Odometer turned 3000 miles today. And the wear bars on the rear tire are showing.

So are City Grips the way to go?
At 3000 miles my rear stock Dunlop is nearing its demise. Front still looks OK. Are Michelin City Grips the way to go? And a 150 fits easy on the rear with no rubbing? Is there something better if price was no concern?
Thank you
Thank you

Re: Ambient Temperature gauge
Don't forget the cost of the zip ties, Ole. :D Michael Ya got me there. I didn't factor that in. Add a couple cents. By the way, on my first bike trip to Alaska in 2008 I had to scrape frost off the thermometer to see how cold it was. And this was in June. Had to scrape frost off the windscreen a c...

Re: Ambient Temperature gauge
I think you guys are over thinking this. Go to a kitchen store and buy a large dial thermometer. 6 inch shaft. Zip tie to your handlebars. Done. I have three of these, one on each bike. Whenever I go by a bank sign with the temp, it always reads within a degree or two,,, http://i138.photobucket.com/...
