Re: Re: Engine is dead..
Thanks Maddiedog for your insight! When the engine tried to start it was not a full attempt, like a you would have, say, if you were out of gas. It was more of a small, barely audible rumble in the exhaust. Considering how it suddenly stopped, could it be that my valves are out of wack? Thanks again...

Re: My first post (be gentle !)
Welcome to the forum.
I had a dealer put an aftermarket variator on my PCX and the cost was 1600 baht (48 dollars). Now, I know where to buy the parts, so it's going to be 25-30% cheaper.
You've got some good looking bikes, fo sho!

Re: Re: Engine is dead..
Hey Kramnala58, Originally from the east bay, but I moved to Morocco when I was a child. In large part, I have traveled most of my life. Now, I bounce between Nonthaburi, Bkk and Saphan Buri/Sam Chuk. On the motorcycle front; I checked the dipstick for water and found none. :) :) :) I tried to pull ...

Re: Wide tyres and insurance
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we're running Michelin's. They work! Winter, spring, summer and fall, the only thing hotter than Thailand, is my wife! I run Michelin something 45's on my Pcx in Bangkok, where the winter means rain! -------------- Actually, the rainy season or monsoon (June-October) in...

Re: Engine is dead..
@ Mgalutia88, Thank you! I'm going to check it today. I should have considered looking at the oil and plug, but I do this kind of thing so seldom that I forget that this is what you do. hehe @ Kramnala58 Thanks for the tip on that shop! Just like riding in Bkk, I'm going to go slow. One step at a ti...

Re: Re: Engine is dead..
@ Mgalutia88, thanks for the response! Died suddenly @ 100kph It won't even turn over now. I'm expecting I have blown a gasket or cracked the piston. Of course, I'm not a mechanic. Can I do a compression check without it turning over? Is there any way I can determine the cause, before I bend over......

I had a glass of 'my ex-wife's bitter' once, and it went down with a smile... But really, Racer 5! http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/610/2751

Re: Re: Engine is dead..
Hey thanks for the warm welcome Kramnala58 It seems we are not far apart from each other, geographically. On the Thai language front, I speak enough to get by, and my wife fills in the blanks. :) You wouldn't happen to have a recommendation on a shop would you? I looked around today, and some shops ...

Re: Engine is dead..
I have a 2010 PCX with 51,000 km on the clock. I have an Over muffle with the baffle out, and it has a history of backfiring. It started to use more gas in the last 6 months and I knew it needed some love. Wednesday I have it wide open in the country, and it just died. Won't start. I think it needs ...

Re: Wide tyres and insurance
I run Michelin something 45's on my Pcx in Bangkok, where the winter means rain! Since they're the same size I swap them front to back when I swap the oil. I get a longer life out of them. Loose those Irc's! They are crap tires even when it's not wet.

Re: Engine stalled
My 3 year old PCX would almost stall at a light too. I replaced the battery and works just fine now, or it did until Wednesday... I think I blew the engine.
