Re: First impressions of NCY variator, drive face &13g rollers
I'm BACK!! Picked up another PCX after having 3 in the past. Of course I already knew I would be doing the NCY variator and Drive face with 13g rollers that I championed on here 8 years ago. However, After installing the setup yesterday on my used 2015 with 2900 miles, I was previously topping out a...

I just hate to see anyone go through a lot of work and trouble before exhausting the free power upgrades no matter how small.

Re: Takegawa Cam
Hey guys, just wanted to remind everyone that I believe some free power can be had by cutting a hole or two in the stock airbox. I used a spade bit and cut a couple holes with I think a 5/8 or 3/4" bit in the bottom side (facing the ground) just aft of the slotted portion of the airbox. I shoul...

Re: 120/80-14 Tire for the Rear
Power Pure is a nice tire. I've had them on my sportbikes. They emphasize lightweight construction in the marketing of the tire..so it shouldn't be too heavy. But as I often warn, the profile of the tire may get distorted in a negative manner squeezing it onto such a narrow rim. I used to drag knee ...

Re: How much work is it to install a larger throttle body?
I can speak as a former motorcycle mechanic. It's industry standard not to have the customer in the shop. Usually I wouldn't mind. The only time I would or others would really mind is if they don't know what they're doing. Good for you for getting your parts/bike back and I hope it works out for you...

Re: Break in and increasing fuel economy
My 2015 got a best tank of 107mpg (showed 125 mpg on the guage (reads UK miles). Lots of drafting on the freeway and driving like a granny. =)
But yeah, right now, the guage is reading 84mpg...more like 70-71mpg actual. But I've just been driving it like I stole it.

Re: K&N Air filter Installation and Performance Analysis
For the record, I took my pod filter off. Was too loud and no noticeable gain, maybe even a loss of low end. At least it was only $6. The time spent putting it on and off was a bigger issue. Did I mention it was LOUD? =P

Re: SP Takegawa vs Moriwaki exhausts
Vamootsman provided a link to a previous thread. Vamootsman and I went in on 2 power silent Oval's from webike japan in order to get the free shipping on orders over $500. So for roughly $250, we each got an exhaust. It does raise the power output noticeably. I have run the exhaust on both my 2013 a...

Re: So, how'd that engine mod work out for you?
Maybe this "changing the head gasket at 3k miles" is an indicator that the cyclinder walls so thin, that the gasket is likely to fail before too long after 3k miles. By stating that it needs to be replaced at 3k miles, he prevents a lot of phone calls from people saying they blew their hea...

Re: NCY Variator, Face Plate, 13gr Rollers, Belt for 2013 1
Yep that's the Face Plate in my title I just put on. Just did 25 miles at 29 F. Never got cold. I reached 72 mph in a slight downhill and 74 in a steeper one after putting about 15 more miles on the new parts (so 20 miles in total on the new NCY parts before I tried the high speed runs. My first at...

For short trips...steering effect is minimal. I've had 5lbs hanging over my mirrors on both sides before. Good for trips to the grocery store if it's near by.

Re: How much should I pay for a 2015 PCX 150?
All Japanese motorcycles are marked up approx 17%. I think 10% off retail is generally a good place to start. So, take $3400- $340 then add frieght back in and a modest setup fee of $100 and then tax and registration fees. In CA, this comes to around $4100 OTD. I would bend as much as 2% overall, bu...

Re: NCY Variator, Face Plate, 13gr Rollers, Belt for 2013 1
Well, my theory is that that last few mph (75-80mph) put the scoot at the highest RPM range where it's not making as much power. Better to gear it for 80 and ride it at 75mph, than gear it to redline at 75mph. So in that regard...throw that new belt on there!

Re: NCY Variator, Face Plate, 13gr Rollers, Belt for 2013 1
Still dunno why you left the old belt in there. With 2500 miles or so, top speed will be down 2-3mph over a new belt. Go ahead and throw the good one in there. =)

Got it torqued to spec and ready to test. This completes the first dis-assembly for the NCY upgrade.   The trouble is it is 25 F outside. It does sound like there is a bit of a break-in to the new parts. http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc430/tbln930/BRANT-PC/Pictures/2015...

Re: 30,000 mile update......
Well they don't check them and the service manual doesn't give valve check intervals interestingly. Ridiculous! It's in every manual. Once at 1000km-600 miles and then every 4,0000km to 4,000 miles depending on the language and country of the manual. The first sign of trouble will be hard starting ...

Re: NCY Variator, Face Plate, 13gr Rollers, Belt for 2013 1
I you have a universal 1/4" and a 8mm 1/4 normal (not deep) socket, then you can remove the cover without pulling the lower trim panel. If you don't you'll have to remove it. I can pultt the trim panel off in 2 minutes or less, but then again, I've had it off 10 times or more. Don't forget to p...
