Any updates?
Longest sub-24-hour ride I've heard of was that guy by the handle Pozo, who rode from DC to Montreal: 640.5 miles in 21 hours and 57 min

Re: How-To: Remove rear wheel
I've been hitting it with the WD-40. I'll look for some of that stuff too, though. I noticed there's a bearing part in the middle that won't rotate. Not sure if it's supposed to. The swingarm rotates but the ring in the middle around the spindle does not rotate. I guess next I'll try laying it on th...

Re: How-To: Remove rear wheel
I got to the part where I'm supposed to pull off the swingarm, but it won't come off the axle! I sprayed it with a bunch of lithium grease, and it rotates around the axle just fine, but it wont budge as far as coming off that axle.
Any ideas?

[bump] Any new Iron Butts?
Sounds like the longest ride under 24 hours so far is pozo's 640.5 miles from DC to Montreal?

Re: Terrible experience at the MVA today
It was a breeze here in DC. All my experiences with the DC DMV have been efficient and painless. Other DC agencies, though, are terrible to work with-- god help you if you need a replacement trash can. I've never understood why some agencies are so well run and others are so awful.

Re: Bike shudders the first few times it starts each trip
That doesn't stress out the other transmission parts? Really, if the shudder is not causing any long-term problems then I guess I'm OK with just living with it. The scoot only shudders for the first two or three takeoffs each trip, and after that it's fine. Maybe the shoe gets warmed up and starts s...

Re: brakes cause vibrations when not applied?
Ha! I've been having a very similar problem to 6ftMach1Girl and pcx man-- I should have checked the forum more before I posted! I am going to try being more decisive on starts (although I've tried that more recently and it doesn't seem to help a ton), and I'll also get a can of air and blow off ever...

Re: Average fuel consumption
I'm about 85 mpg also. Everything is stock. 1800 miles on the odo. 210 lbs (about 95 kg?), 6'0", most miles are around town, maybe about 10% are two-up with the lady. I try to be light on the throttle but I also try to keep up with traffic.

Bike shudders the first few times it starts each trip
The first 2 or 3 times I get my bike rolling from stop each trip, the front end shudders a bunch as it gets into gear. Got a mystery for you folks: Every trip I take, the first two or three times I apply throttle each trip (i.e. from the parking spot and the first couple of lights/stop signs), the f...

Re: Engine cuts off and on
Hasn't come up again in the past week, but I'll continue to watch out for it. When it happened the engine braking kicked in right away-- it was just as though I had put the throttle at zero, even though I was holding it at a constant level. I had thought maybe I was holding it right at some threshol...

Re: Engine cuts off and on
On the ride home it seemed totally normal, so maybe it was a one-time thing. I'd delete my post but I'm not sure how. Thanks for reading anyway.

Engine cuts off and on
I just noticed this on my last ride over lunch: While riding along, at low steady throttle, it seems like the gas to the engine is stopping and starting, as though I were closing the throttle all the way and then putting back at where I'm in fact keeping the throttle the whole time. I just gassed th...

Re: security for PCX
DC is not known for its low crime rates, but I just keep mine in the backyard with the handlebars locked, and then I use a Xena disc alarm lock if I park it somewhere public at night or if it's a little sketchy. I also carry a long cable lock but I haven't used it yet in the 3 months I've been carry...

I am intrigued by this "take off the seat and a few other bits and reach down" method. Could anyone please share a link to it?

What's the best Loctite for this kind of thing? Threadlocker Blue 242? http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/10/15/t_lkr_blue/overview/Loctite-Threadlocker-Blue-242.htm Yeah, now I've got the batteries in the alarm, so it beeps at me whenever I forget it. I think I will probably put a lanyard on there to...

Re: warped rotor
FWIW, I finally replaced the rotor yesterday, as spring has finally sprung here in DC. It was indeed a very easy job--the only tools you need are a metric ratchet set and metric allen keys. Took under a half hour. I thought I would need a front stand to lift the wheel off the ground, but what I ende...

Yeah I guess if I'm planning to replace the rotor anyway a few thumps with a rubber mallet couldn't hurt. It really is fairly subtle.

Re: warped rotor
Yeah it actually is an alarm lock, but I didn't install the battery because I was worried about false alarms in extreme cold. But that's why it didn't come with a reminder lanyard. Is there a place I can order a replacement rotor? Does it have to be PCX-specific? Should I just take it to a shop and ...

Re: warped rotor
FWIW, I rode the bike a couple miles and it seemed fine, maybe a touch of drag, but maybe that was in my head. I can just barely make out a soft "shiing" metallic rubbing sound at the same part of each rotation when the bike is turned off and I am rolling it to the parking spot.
