Its a broken wire somewhere on the loom. I had this problem fixed under warranty so don't know a lot about it.Its something to do with the suspension going up and down and rubbing through the wire . Local dealer says that it wont be fixed under warranty as I have missed to services. He wanted £80 just to have a look at the problem :-(

How does the fuel sensor affect the speedometer and odometer? I havent followed the diagram all the way through yet, but it would seem to me that you should at least be able to see your old mileage on the odometer. thanks all, I had already downloaded the wiring diagram and traced them as far as i could and they checked out fine.

the display seemed to start going wrong very soon after my last refuel so maybe the problem is associated with the fuel sensor?

I have a thought about your problem. Will the bike start and run normal? When you go to start it does the speedo needle go up to 100mph and back? Does the amber engine light come on then go out like normal to let you know you can start it now? Does the engine light stay off or does it flash a code ...

Not completing the service intervals. I bought it 2nd hand and the previous owner only had it first service but nothing since although the bike is only just over a year old ( registered Jan 13 )

If you can't even tell how much fuel then it sounds like the dash cluster has problems. If you can do the work yourself you may have to take the bike apart and check the connections to the back of the cluster. Try to think of what is common to all of the things not working. I have already removed f...

Have now checked all cables and connectors to the dash and there is nothing loose and also checked the fuses.

Any other ideas ?

No warranty :-(

The speedo does not respond either so really hoping it is not something as expensive as a new dash but might be an excuse to get the fully digital kitaco one.

Where exactly is the speed sensor? I had a quick look around the rear brake adjuster but couldn't see anything amiss.

BTW I have attached a photo of the dash. The digital screen is completely blank so can't even tell how much fuel is in the tank.

My speedometer and odometer stopped working and not sure what the fault might be. The indicater and headlight lights still work so there is power going to the dash so would this rule out a blown fuse? I am not very mechanical so any advice gratefully received

Hi,

Damaged my headlight and need to get a replacement but they are at least £175 in the UK. I want to re-use my existing wiring harness and bulbs etc so I assume that I cannot order a US replacement as the indicators are external.

Anybody now the cheapest place to buy a replacement from?
