Re: NC750x DCT
Ha. The woman wasn't impressed with my cautious riding at all. She kept wanting me to go faster, lean more and overtake everyone. I'd rather stay alive :p. I told her that it may be better to get her own bike. She told me I'd have to pay for it then.

I have finally managed to get some good motorbike trips in. Here's my bike and partner getting ready to hit the road. IMAG1954.jpg First stop was at a friend's farm in Paarl IMAG1957.jpg The next day we went to a cheese and wine festival in Stellenbosch. Here's some bike fans that wanted a picture w...

Re: Suzuki V Strom 650 ABS Adventure
The guy that I bought my bike from, spent about R20 000 farkling. Then when he wanted to trade in the bike for an upgrade, they told him they only consider the cost of the bike for the trade in value. I then managed to convince him to sell me the bike at trade in value, with the 'free' farkles . SCO...

Re: My Alaskan ride
Wow. Nice tiger. Please give some more detail of you luggage setup. If I did even 90/10 tar vs gravel, I'd get myself a tiger. Or the gs800 adventure. But I've had my NC750x for a few months now, and I've done 99,99/0,01 so realistically, the NC is the better choice. It would be nice to have a switc...

Very strange, why would you buy a bigger bikeSteph wrote:I felt that riding in windy conditions improved when I removed my tall wind screen and re-installed the original little screen. Strange. I also bought a bigger bike.

Today I picked up two 30l heavy duty PVC dry sacks, in bright yellow, to strap over both panniers. Once I figure out how to strap everything, I'll take some pics

Re: Suzuki V Strom 650 ABS Adventure
Haha, I live in south Africa, and don't have as much choices. I'll get what ever lights that are available. I still have to go scrounge the local bike shops. I'm also a bit of a scrooge, so will spend a long time researching my options. Yes, higher the better, as you'll get less shadows. Study also ...

Re: New security conscience PCX Owner
Maybe. I do remember one potential question about whether or not anyone would look twice if a potential thief puts on a hi-vis orange bib, and works at the chain with an angle grinder and cutting disk. Passerby's would probably think it's a city official cutting off the locks to something that's be...

Re: So glad I started commuting by Scoot!
I totally agree!! My commuting time went from 60min to 30min. That's an hour saving each day. 5hr saving every week. Its almost like I get an extra day free holiday every month. Because I mainly ride my bike to work now, I've stopped paying for a parking bay at work. Just from work parking and fuel ...

Re: NC750x DCT
Nice bike DAB. I'm also looking at a waterproof bag route, except, they'll be smaller with one on top of each pannier for two up riding. Its a long weekend coming up, and I have a 400km route planned, which will take me to Paarl for a friend's 60th birthday, Then to Stellenbosch for a cheese and win...

Re: How do I prevent getting blown about in winds?
I bought a bigger bike :D Before the bigger bike, I use to tuck behind my bigger windscreen, relax, and try reacting as quickly as possible with the side gust by leaning into the wind. I don't think tucking helps too much with reducing your side profile with side gust, I was mainly doing it to reduc...

Re: NC750x DCT
There are a few rural people living on the banks of the river. The grass is kept short by their domestic livestock. Goats, cows, etc. That setup would be tough for me to do, as my girlfriend would complain about having to sit on the bag  .I already have a set of Givi panniers and top box, but I...

Re: NC750x DCT
I just did a 4day river rafting trip down the orange river, where you camp on the river banks every night. They give you two buckets to put all your own personal gear into, which I used as a good opportunity to test out my kit I would be using if I ever do a biking trip. IMG_2963s.jpg Here's my smal...
