Re: Givi E26 top case with LED brake light
I have the Honda accessory rack on there, and the Givi box came with a universal monolock base. The hardware seems to be workable to mount it that way, but it's not my favorite. I'm probably going to drill some holes through the metal Honda rack and bolt the Givi base to it rather than using the cla...

Re: Givi E26 top case with LED brake light
I was going to get the 30, but came across this one and for the price I couldn't justify anything else, especially since the light kit came with it basically for free. I'll wire it up tomorrow. FYI, for anyone doing the rear rack or top case install, that tail plastic that you drill the 4 mounting h...

Givi E26 top case with LED brake light
I wanted a small box that would not be out of proportion to the size of the scooter. Came across this one for $70 on Amazon, shipped, and including the brake light kit. Seemed like a decent sweet spot of price vs features and quality. In the event someone down the road it pondering which case to buy...

Re: Skene Photon Blaster front lights
Thanks. I kind of wish I had just ordered white ones back when I bought them instead of amber. They'd look better as running lights. But I guess since the controller and wiring is installed now, I could change the LED modules out pretty easily. By the way, if anyone needs to find 12v switched power ...

Re: Skene Photon Blaster front lights
I need to install LED in the front signals so they flash at the exact same rate as the LEDs. The problem with LEDs, though, is off axis visibility. They are much brighter head on, but the old school incandescents are actually good over a wider range off dead center. I'll probably leave them for that...

Install completed
I haven't played around with aim on the lights yet. But wiring complete, and lights are functional. I enable the turn signals for now, we'll see if I leave them or just go with driving lights. You can enable a slight (very obvious on digicam but only slightly perceptible to the human eye) flicker fo...

Re: Skene Photon Blaster front lights
Lighting is highly regulated in Europe. Of course, their standards have evolved, too, where ours (US) are stuck in the 50's or 60's, especially regarding headlights. I wish our cars were available in the States with euro-spec lighting.

Love it. They should come with something along these lines from the factory. More like an old Vespa seat.

Skene Photon Blaster front lights
Today after an SUV started to pull out right in front of me then slammed on his brakes when he saw me... I got to thinking about making myself more conspicuous to cagers. Just so happened I had a set of Skene Photon Blasters sitting on my shelf that I never put on my BMW. Since I ride the scooter in...

Re: Idling Stop
On modern cars, I believe the break even point for shutting down vs. idling is around 10 seconds. Longer than that, shutting down and restarting consumes less fuel than letting the engine idle. Not sure if that applies directly to tiny scooter engines or not. Some traffic signals in my area have sen...

tabs mount to license bolts. you can have the lights stick out or mount flush to the plate. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e40/mbrickell/P9240069_zps68dba7ef.jpg I ran wiring through a small hole drilled in fender under the plate, then up through stock turn signal wiring holes to tail compartment...

They come with little metal tabs. The license plate bolt goes right through and they just mount right up beside your plate. http://www.lights.skenedesign.com/P3_Installation.shtml http://www.lights.skenedesign.com/Brackets.shtml http://www.lights.skenedesign.com/P3_Gallery.shtml The PCX is not liste...

Re: Skene Design P3 Lights installed
I thought about ordering the Knight Riderz light until I remembered I had the Skene stuff still on the shelf from a BMW rally I attended two years ago. About time I put it to use. I like the Kit effect of your lights, probably gets some attention, which is good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhbgHG...

Re: Skene Design P3 Lights installed
Yeah, the modulating headlights are pretty blatant and annoying. I had a guy riding a bike behind me on the highway for a few miles one day and about went insane from his headlight modulation. So I can totally see where one of those would catch a cop's eye. I believe I read somewhere that they are a...

Re: Skene Design P3 Lights installed
They (running lights) don't flash nearly as much as the video makes it appear, while riding. Just a tiny hint, a faint flicker from 50% to 100%. Almost like you had a charging system fault. Very minimal. The frame rate of the digital cam makes it 100x more apparent than what it really is. They don't...

Re: Have any of you tried this top box ?
I just ordered the one below. Seemed like the best quality for the price that I could find, and includes mounting plate and brake light.. Also, I didn't want one that was too big for a small scoot like the PCX. $70 shipped.

+++ on the Hi Viz stuff. My dad recently rode out to my place on his R1100RS. He was wearing a new Hi-Viz color helmet I hadn't seen before. I was in the car at one point and he was following me on the bike. It was amazing to me, even at a distance, how much he stood out in my rear view mirror weari...
