Great questions Fish . But Honda will never say why , and the rest is speculation . I do believe extra fee's is the real answer however , if they really check them , fake it or whatnot . But gn2 , you wouldn't change the oil prior to 5000 miles if it were Coal black ?. I'm well aware the base doesn't go bad but the additive sure does......

Perhaps fashion a type of skid plate or bar reference the exhaust .

Nope, no recall. Honda offereed to pay for the parts but not the labour to fix mine when it broke after the warranty expired. Given that the labour charge was going to be almost what the scooter was worth I declined their offer. If it had broken during the warranty it would have been repaired free ...

I've said for years that manufacturers are intentionally making these products difficult . Even the 4 valve units could be made so easy adjustment were possible. ...shame , shame .

The 40 part of 10w 40 won't change to a 40 "weight"until a particular temp is reached . The 10w part is VERY important for start up.

Amsoil was around in the 70's . Synthetics are not more slick then Dino , they have better flow characteristics .
