Re: Break in and increasing fuel economy

I'm up to 1400 miles now, mostly doing the same commute every day and I usually see the last bar start blinking around 112 miles or so, then putting in about 1.35 gallons and getting 85 to 87 mpg. I am now suspicious that the original consistent 75 mpg was the result of winter blend gas, not lack of...

Re: How to remove the speed limiter?

My milage was unchanged, but i should point out that the majority of my miles are at over 50 mph, at which speeds the weights are all are
the way out and no longer a factor.

Most people here seem to have no real change to their economy after the weight change.

Re: How to remove the speed limiter?

Sendler is right on the money. You are hitting the engines rev limiter and that is not something you want to bypass. You need to raise the max gear ratio and installing Dr Pulley sliders is the most cost effective way of doing that at around $30 and 1/2 hour of your time. 12grams are popular, as are...

Re: New PCX 150, just put on Give Shield, need some help, 4/

I used this one: http://www.amazon.com/National-Cycle-Replacement-Screen-14-75in/dp/B00M9IJ9F8/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1431916909&sr=1-2&keywords=National+Cycle+Replacement+Screen on my 2013 pcx. I am 5'9" and find it is remarkably quiet and smooth at hwy speeds. If ...

Re: Break in and increasing fuel economy

I'm not sure if its because winter blend fuel is gone, or because the engine has turned a corner on the break in process, but my mileage is noticeably higher now under even hard conditions. I had the day off today, so ran some errands that let me burn a full tankful on the interstate mostly at 65+ m...

Re: Break in and increasing fuel economy

It's not that I'm worried or not understanding that I will get worse milage due to my higher speeds, it that I am surprised that my mileage suddenly jumped so much oveter the course of 2 tank fulls after being a steady 75 mpg over all the other tanks.

Break in and increasing fuel economy

Just wondering when other people noticed better economy during the break in process. I bought my bike new late last fall, and nearly all of its miles ( 800 miles so far ) have been commuting to work, 80% of which is at 60ish mph on the hwy. Since new, I have been getting a dissapointing 75 or 76 mpg...

I'm one of those guys. Got mine from a dealer on the north side ( 76th and good hope ) as they had the best out the door price for my new-leftover black 2013. http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3671

Re: hell of a deal

Burn it out? That's not really a thing. The engine is still stock and while the rpms are higher, they are still way below red line except at top speed where they are exactly the same as stock.

Re: hell of a deal

Not sure I want to get into modding the engine or not. We'll see. Weights aren't really modding the engine, its the transmission. They just let the engine rev to a rpm where the engine is stronger. The difference in acceleration is quite noticeable. If you aren't going on the interstate, it won't m...

Re: 13 gram dr pulleys installed with filing mod, results.

Approximately 5 out of the 6.5 miles out of my work commute are on the interstate at 60+ mph. I was hoping when I bought it to see better than 75mpg, but it still beats the heck out of the 30 mpg my Mazda 5 gets, and using it is saving lots of wear and tear on the car. The car is getting driven less...

Re: hell of a deal

Hi, I'm also from the Milwaukee area ( Bayview ) and also just got a screaming deal on a new leftover 2013 last November of a bit under $2700 out the door. ( tax, title, plates, everything ). Do yourself a favor and after you get a couple of hundred miles on the bike to let the drive belt polish a m...

Re: HondaPCX150 2015 Model at higher speeds?

I've had mine up to 73 mph, ( variator filed and dr pulley mod ) a couple of times now due to tailwind assistance and its perfectly stable, as good as any of the smaller motorcycles I've owned.

Re: 13 gram dr pulleys installed with filing mod, results.

I've been commuting with this setup for a couple of weeks now and have found top speed is very wind dependant. Into strong headwinds I may not hit 65mph, but the couple of times I had strong tailwinds I was able to hit 73mph with no sign of the rev limiter intruding. This is on essentially level gro...

Re: 13 gram dr pulleys installed with filing mod, results.

I couldn't find data on how or what speed they measure drive by noise levels, but my bike is noticeably louder at even parking lot speeds. People almost notice me coming now. ;) Before the bike was almost electric quiet.

13 gram dr pulleys installed with filing mod, results.

The weather finally broke here so I was able to get my pcx150 over to a buddies house to borrow his air impact wrench and got my 13 gram dr pulley sliders installed. My bike had 250 miles on it so the variator, so there were no worn ridges on the face, just a polished zone showing me how far to file...

Re: Tall Windscreen For 2015 PCX150

I was going to suggest this one, http://shop.nationalcycle.com/perl/cycle/N20051 as its the one I have on my 2013 and it works very well, but to my surprise there is no part number for the 2015. Hopefully that will change soon. I'm 5'9" and can easily see over the top with the wind just hitting...

Re: 75 mpg on new pcx normal?

My USA spec bike doesn't have idle stop, but for me personally and my use I would see very little value to it. Very few and brief stops.
If your commute involved lots of long stops at lights I would imagine you might see noticeable results, perhaps in the 10-15% range.

Re: 75 mpg on new pcx normal?

No baggy clothing, although with the wind protection I'm getting from my windscreen it wouldn't flap much anyway. Top speed seems to be around 67, but with the area I was doing this I couldn't hold it at top speed for long before I had to roll off for traffic reasons. I will get a better take next s...
