Re: Pcx any good for long distance travelling 200+ miles
If you've got a full licence, go for a bigger bike. But if you've riding on CBT, you're obviously stuck with a 125. Did up to 130-odd miles in one hit on my PCX. I was still on L-plates at the time, but if public transport just doesn't work for a trip, you use what you've got. I did a lot of trips w...

Re: Yamaha Xmax 400 (2018 model)…an epic tale, and a review…
Another bump. Now done over 6,000 miles on the Xmax, still loving it, still getting 80-85 mpg (I'm not quite sure how the mag/web reviewers managed to get that down to 60-65....). Sold both the PCX and R125 in May, so it's been alone in the garage for a bit. Until this week. As having two bikes has ...

Re: How many miles do you have on your PCX
A bump, to announce that my PCX is about to pass 50,000 miles. Just been for its latest service- think the belt and rollers are on their last legs, but the annual MOT inspection is due in a few weeks so I'll get those done then. Rear shocks were replaced, electrics behaving themselves (touch wood)....

You're not wrong. Very simple electronics in a hardened box (cheap to produce). The whole bike only costs £3k!!

Re: Yamaha Xmax 400 (2018 model)…an epic tale, and a review…
Bump. Thanks to the PCX being out of action for a month, finally back and ready for action today, the Xmax has been commuting five days a week in the meantime. Odometer has passed 4,000, and I've now done over 3,000 on her. I'd obviously have preferred to have had the choice of bikes, but it's been ...

Re: Yamaha Xmax 400 (2018 model)…an epic tale, and a review…
Slight update. After a second week's half-commute (I'm doing two days on one bike three on the other), have found that Goldilocks riding position again, pulling away and right turns much easier (or, as easy as they were when I got it right in February). MPG for this past week 80 or so. Yes, a 300 wo...

Re: Yamaha Xmax 400 (2018 model)…an epic tale, and a review…
If it were up to me, I would sell that 400 and consider something that I would feel more comfortable with, such as a 300. Everyone has a "sweet spot" when it comes to comfort and handling on a bike. Once you find the one foe you, stick with it until you are thoroughly familiar with it to ...

Re: Yamaha Xmax 400 (2018 model)…an epic tale, and a review…
This is a very bad idea. When you use the brakes, kinetic energy is converted into heat. Far better to have three discs dissipate the heat rather than the smallest of the three. If you keep doing that you'll warp the rear disc. Not just that but instinct. If you routinely use both brake levers toge...

Have enjoyed reading your write-ups on the 300, OG. As requested, the bike in its home away from home, the bike shelter at work. Neighbouring bike is a colleague's MT-07. He just downsized from an R1 because he too felt like something a little slower/less terryfying. It's very clean because, apart f...

Yamaha Xmax 400 (2018 model)…an epic tale, and a review…
As I have finally got the necessary licence to ride this big beast (210 kg/462 lbs wet weight) this past Thursday, after buying it last May (!) I thought I'd give you all a review. But I’ll begin by telling you how and why I got it, and why it took that long after buying to get to ride it properly. ...

Re: How many miles do you have on your PCX
StuAff, is yours a PCX?? If your bike is like mine it has 2 rear shocks. Buy some YSS adjustable ones and you will never go back to oem ones. I have a different manufacturer's ones on mine but they are still adjustable. That is key to comfort. If you plan on keeping your little red "fun-matic&...

Re: How many miles do you have on your PCX
My 2015 is now past 38,000 miles, still going strong. Just had the belt and rollers changed, speed and fuel economy as good as new. After months of fails and waiting for the next attempt, finally passed full licence tests last week. A1 automatic- so 125 scoots, no manuals- I have an Xmax 400 sitting...

Re: Electrical issues....
Glad you got it sorted. The problem could just have been duff or corroded connections. Pulling, cleaning with switch cleaner and reconnecting every connector on the loom and giving them all a scoosh of ACF-50 might have done the trick on the old loom. Perhaps....I don't have an idea of everything t...

Electrical issues....
Only three years since my last post, though I drop in for a look regularly.... Anyhow, my PCX, now up to 28k miles from new in March 2015 (doing over 200 a week 46 weeks a year on the commute, plus the odd longer run for nights out, will do that), has been plagued for over a year by electrical probl...

Re: Hello from a new owner in the UK!
First service done today, 585 miles on the clock. They didn't look at the valves, which obviously means according to Honda that the bike is doomed...I'll take that chance. Bike is continuing to run very smoothly, fuel consumption still about 135 mpg (this week's fill-up 6.33 litres for the princely...

If we're naming and shaming....Chichester Honda, who clearly have so much business that they can afford to ignore paying customers, or don't give a toss if they have IT problems as long as their pretty website's up and running. You aren't having my money any time.... And Crescent in Southampton? Dub...
