Performance Exhaust
Hi all, I've have fitted a very nice exhaust to my PCX 125 esp for thelast 500 miles / month or so. It's a Tecnigas 4 Scoot, does the business and is only £168 delivered here in the UK from Pedparts. I have had this same exhaust fitted to my SYM Jet for the last couple of years (which my Son still h...

Re: Variator... better performance..? Pro's and Con's..?
I don't want to dissuade anyone from trying variators, weights etc... but I have been playing with weights & also a Takegawa variator with very little if no improvement. I have been measuring acceleration over a standing quarter mile using a GPS app. Stock time 21.26 secs With Takegawa variator,...

Re: Lubrication between the Boss and the Driveshaft...
Same happened to me on my Sym Joyride a few years ago. I released the stuck part by starting the engine with the nut removed......... You can guess what happened! The variator grenaded all over the garage. I do not recommend this method. Anyway to avoid any reccurrance of such things I use a light w...

Re: Rear brake has too much free play
Am I the only one who likes the combined braking system? Thought I'd hate it but I find it very effective. If your rear brake is properly adjusted, it takes a good tug on the brake lever to ensure the starter is not inhibited, but it should start instantly. I think the brakes on the PCX are very goo...

Park up and have a smile on your face. Hopefully you'll enjoy the ride to & from work much more than they do. I just love squeezing past all the idiots running to get out of the car park at finishing time, reversing into each other & getting all irate in their huge bourgemobiles. Pays to kee...

Re: Covered under warranty?
I don't think 23'000 miles is a lot. No way pistons should break up either. That motor sounds like a right dud. I don't have a warranty so don't know, but surely this must be covered? If all else fails a motor from a front ended bike would be a sure fix, buy a complete bike, swap the power unit, sel...

Re: Dr Pulleys don't work properly on 2013 125
Ok, here's the pics.
On the second you can see the gap under the rule which is more or less parallel until the upturn about 6mm from the outer edge.
This is the same on both faces.
It could be a wear lip I suppose, but after just 9000 miles? The replacement is smooth all the way out to the edge.

Re: Dr Pulleys don't work properly on 2013 125
Well if you guys are using drive sheaves with regular sides & no step at the outer edge, as all other variators are I've ever seen, you'll have no problems. The point is to check if you've got a weird stepped edge like mine they won't work. The earlier models definitely did not have that stepped...

Yes as I said the dimensions are identical.
They are the same length
They have the same amount of ridges inside
They are, well, in all but part number, identical!

Dr Pulleys don't work properly on 2013 125
Controversial title, as we all know Dr Pulleys tend to spread your variator wider and increase your overall gearing. They work. The problem on my 2013 model is that both drive face & OEM variator have an outer edge that is vertical for the last 6mm. On fitting you will find all is fine up to app...

Re: AA Cover
My cars are all covered by 'Auto Aid' cheap & cheerful recovery for a small fee here in the UK, very efficient too.
They include motorbikes in my cover too, but strangely only above 125cc!!!
Must get a big bore kit....

Re: Belt and roller change
Hi Candy Red, The replacement belt has made no difference to performance whatsoever. It is exactly the same as when fitted with the original 9000 mile old belt, so Honda's guidance of 15'000 mile changes seems fair. My rollers however are original (17g) and are quite heavily flat spotted. I have bee...

It looks like the ideal bike for me.
Would make sure you stay ahead of the relentless 56mph trucks on the local bypass, the main bugbear of a 125 I find.
Buy it!

Re: Belt and roller change
Interesting thread.
I changed my drive belt today, using a Honda 23100-KWN-901.
Is this the correct belt for the 2013 UK spec 125?
The new and old belts are shown in the picture below.
They are identical in dimensions but carry different part numbers.

Re: How do I know if I need a new Belt?
Hi Wallachem,
I have a 2013 UK spec 125 and my top speed averages 56mph on the level.
I think it's commonly perceived as a 60mph + bike as my speedo for example hits 62mph flat out, which is indeed a GPS verified 56mph.

Hi Jojo, My own situation was a bit like yours. I'm over 50 with bad feet, if you ever did your CBT on a geared bike you'll know what a pain bad ankles are! Anyway back in 2008 I think it was I took my test on my Sym Joyride 125 and unexpectedly passed! I'm now stuck with an automatic licence (tho' ...

Thanks you you,
It doesn't stand up to close inspection, the various body gouges look like they have been touched in with a dab of Dulux!
At the moment I'm just enjoying riding the thing.
Moved the seat hump back about an inch yesterday & getting used to it.

Evening all, After much watching of adds for a PCX that is sub £1500, not black & not monster miles, I picked one up locally yesterday. One learner owner who clearly didn't care much for it but less than 2 years old and only 8000 miles (are they easily clocked by the way?). It's not pretty as it...
