You can use 10w40 (or 5wxx etc) but unless you bike spends lots of it's life in sub-zero temps or very high temps there is no point in oil with lower or higher viscosity than needed (10w30 covers -10 to >30) Fully synth 10w30 is normally the best choice - not too thin, not too thick for most parts ...

I thought you can use 10w40 ?
