No longer own a PCX
Engine issues were going to cost more than the PCX was worth because of service fees. I could fix it myself but I have outgrown the 150. So I bit the bullet, took a loss traded in last weekend for a 2018 Honda Shadow Aero ABS. Much more comfort and ability now. Still stock but windshield and bags wi...

Re: Starting age
Motorcycles aside at what age did you start riding scooters? 27 years old. Prior to that i'd never ridden a motorized 2 wheel auto. Was having major health issues that didn't allow me to drive a car (seizures, brain tumor, eventual surgery), but strangely i could ride a 50cc scooter legally and onl...

Re: K&N Air filter Installation and Performance Analysis
I had big improvements in uphill torque, just where I wanted it. But with a new exhaust I am running lean. In the shop getting tuned.

This is my next upgrade after mine gets out of the shop. Upgraded the rear and the difference between front and rear rear is staggering now. Feels unbalanced.

Me! I'd ship international if I break even from the original purchase. Would have sent them back to Thailand and lost money.Mel46 wrote:Too bad that you arent in the United States. There is a guy on this forum who is selling a pair. :-/

considering trading up
currently have my 2013 pcx150 in the shop. engine issues. something im not willing to tackle. Depending on the repair estimates I'm considering trading up to a 2014 new never owned Honda CTX700n DCT for sale at my dealer. Price is around half of its original price. Was interested in this motorcycle ...

Re: Knocking and rattling inside the variator and clutch hou
+1 If you still get the rattling after you replace the exhaust with the original one make sure your valves are adjusted correctly too. Was the engine 4 oz low on oil? That isn't much but on a little engine that does not use much it is worth the effort to make sure it isn't leaking. 4oz is all i had...

YSS springs
Ordered YSS shocks G series from bikerbitz. Came with 90-120kg springs. The spring characteristics are 46-17-25-170. Not what I was expecting. Thought I'd ordered 70-90kg model. Was also expecting compression and rebound adjustments. Don't see anything like that on this model--not too concerned abou...

Re: Knocking and rattling inside the variator and clutch hou
Variator and clutch, accessory lights, and the exhaust. That's all.you you wrote:What else have you modified on the bike?
I've determined from other scooter forums (not hondapcx) and from YouTube vids describing a very similar sound in scooters that this may be the crankcase bearing. Not easy to get to.

Re: Knocking and rattling inside the variator and clutch hou
Just added about 4oz of oil. No idea. Checked a couple months ago. Just hope I didn't go too long like that. No sign of leaks or burning oil. Gonna start fresh tomorrow.

Re: Knocking and rattling inside the variator and clutch hou
drove the 10 min home. seemed normal other than the noise. At speeds above 15-20mph, the noise is inaudible but I heard it in the exhaust this time and also had some backfires. Backfires to be more common since the new exhaust. I'll put the OE exhaust back on later and change the oil. Figure if ther...

Re: Knocking and rattling inside the variator and clutch hou
It's not the variator or clutch or pulley. Ran it with everything off. No variator, belt, clutch, etc. Still had the noise. Something in the engine. When I Rev it seems to go away or less noticeable. Could this have been caused by the new exhaust I put on 10 days ago? See the vids. One of the sound ...

Re: Knocking and rattling inside the variator and clutch hou
I don't know if it will still go. Knocking is when idling and and at 5-10mph speed, although thats the only time I noticed it. I didn't hear it till I pulled in to work, stopped, shut it off, and restarted. Hasn't run since. I'm thinking belt, or one of the big nuts is loose. Maybe the clutch. Won't...

Knocking and rattling inside the variator and clutch housing
Got to work this morning and the noise was worrisome. Knocking, rattling, like something has come loose. Didn't have the noise when I left for work. About a 10 min drive. Had a new ncy kit in there for a couple months. Haven't had it open in about a month when I changed the gasket. Been running fine...

Re: Lighting
Had some electrical issues and one light stopped working. Loose connection and fixed that. Both work again. More secure and waterproof. Moved them up to where the reflector bracket attaches. Better balance on each side. The brackets weren't symmetrical. Looked a little cock-eyed. Much better now. Us...

Re: rhythmic squeaking when braking
Took everything off and inspected. Generally dirty from brake dust and road gunk. Brake rotor had typical wear and dirt nothing indicating metal on metal. Thickness was within specifications. No oil leaks from the pistons or tubing. Center piston (which is controlled by the left brake) seemed a bit ...

Re: Lighting
Also installed my kawell lights this morning. Same lights as above. Mounted them to the existing reflector bracket. Just removed the reflector. Had to use a spacer and longer bolt to get it right. Considered mounting where the reflector bracket attaches to the bike. Didn't have the right spacer or b...

Re: rhythmic squeaking when braking
It's been a while since I've had the pads off and done any cleaning. Checked the rear when I changed the tires earlier this year. I'll start with the front pads and caliper They may be binding because of various reasons. Pads are probably due soon. 8000 miles on the original pads and drum brake.

Cheers ya'll! Very nice covers! Suzy's nice to work with, she aims to please. She delivers a great hand made product. Vespa riders have been using her covers for years, and have been very satisfied. I replaced my seat with an aftermarket one because Suzy had not figured out how to make a cover for ...

rhythmic squeaking when braking
for the last couple weeks i've noticed a squeak in the front wheel when i brake with the left hand only. braking with the right only doesn't produce any squeak. it is a rhythmic squeak that is speed dependant. the faster i'm going when i brake the faster the rhythm. seems louder at lower speed. brak...
