Re: Made a delivery!
... On another note, weren't you a bit top heavy? What about wind resistance? ... The barrel was empty, so weight wasn't a problem (I'm guessing around 30#, +/- ?) But yeah, wind resistance dropped my OBD MPG from 129 to 125 in just the 5 mile trip. And buffeting from cross-winds was a definite han...

Re: Made a delivery!
Let's see ..... Ideally, a full drum at my current MPG would give me over 6,000 mile range. :) But, figure 50 gallons of gas (in a 55 gal drum), + drum weight, & we're probably looking at a 330 lb spare tank! (I think I'm gonna need some stiffer rear springs!) Fuel efficiency would be lowest wit...

Re: MPG
I agree, for your average speed & total bike load, that's a pretty good mpg. The windscreen does help a bit with mpg (in my own experience with two different Honda scoots).kjmillig wrote:... So I figure 70 mpg is pretty good.

Re: Added some Bontrager Ion 35 LEDs
Very nice, & very eye-catching! Have you checked with local laws to find out if you're at risk of getting ticketed for having front flashing lights on a non-emergency vehicle? Each state is different. Alternatively, mounting them below the headlight might get around such a law, since that's not ...

Re: What windshield for tall people?
In my opinion, the National Cycle Extra-Tall is probably the best option out there for you. I have the Honda OEM tall windscreen & it's probably closer to the middle-sized NC windscreen. (I would've bought the NC XT if it had been available at the time.) I feel that either the Honda or NC windsc...

Re: Tall windscreen collisions...
... Are any of these tall windscreens shatterproof? If the windscreen is made of polycarbonate (familiar brand name of " Lexan ") and is thick enough, then you have the greatest chance of surviving an impact with your windscreen intact. If, on the other hand, the windscreen is made of acr...

Re: National Cycle extra-tall windshield for 2015 PCX
Looks nice!
I bought my Honda OEM tall windscreen last September (2015) when Nat'l Cycle told me they had absolutely no plans to ever make a model to fit the 2015 PCX. If they had told me they were working on one, I would've waited!
How thick is the plastic?

Scooter fatality
Just a reminder to be aware of the traffic around you. People in "enclosed vehicles" typically only watch for other "enclosed vehicles" to avoid. We're insignificant traffic specks, & will lose in every accident. This accident happened 2 mi from my work, on my scooter route, ...

. Depending on which way the wind blows, the angle of the dangle, and all the other variables in the universe, I plan to do a scooter ride this coming summer. If my nephew doesn't get redeployed to the middle east again I plan a stop at Fort Carson. If this all comes to pass, I may ride up to your ...

Re: PCX cold start problems - NOT
This seems like an appropriate place to ask this question: Do I have to worry about tending the battery if I'm not riding my scoot but it is garaged? Here in northern Colorado we've had several weeks of cold & snow (overnights in the teens to low 20s), but I keep the scoot in the garage. The gar...

Re: Motor oil specification?
So here's a link to what appears to be a "convenient location" for oil specifications (that is, not an actual sanctioning organization, but just someone (or group of someones) who wanted to put everything in one place) JASO MA and JASO MB classifications Key to note here is the statement t...

Re: Motor oil specification?
Since motorcycle oils aren't tested as rigorously as automotive engine oils, you're actually better off using something like Mobil 1 automotive oil. Because our engines run at higher RPMs than most car/truck engines, I'd recommend something relatively shear resistant & with a better-than-average...

There two teaspoons of oil in the final drive. And two bolts. An inny and an outty. It's about as nursery school mechanics as it gets. Have a go and change it if you want but please don't get all superhero about it.. Interesting. I wasn't referencing the procedure of changing the trans oil. I apolo...
