Re: How-To: Change Final Drive Oil

Since it was mentioned in a BUNCH of threads using 10w30 versus 10w40 for the final drive, I feel like this needs a better explanation... 10w30 --- this is an oil weight. In layman's terms, the 10 refers to cold thickness and the 30 refers to hot thickness. The higher the number, the thicker the oi...

Re: Anyone here doing their own transmission oil changes

Yes, as the others have said, it's easy. Don't be afraid to do it!
The only deviation I made from the linked instructions is that I did my first change at 3k mi (to put in synthetic), reused the copper sealing washers, & used 15W-50 (Mobil 1).

My apologies, unfortunately I was born with a sense of humour. I'll try harder in future to play by your rules :D :D Oh, gosh -- I'm sorry!! I didn't realize that ridiculing someone who's asking how to avoid getting stranded was a sign of humor! :o I'll try harder in the future to ignore the...

Re: 2014 PCX 150 - speed for best economy

I always buy the soda drink bottle that is full to the top, cos that extra 1ml or 2ml is really important to me. I figure over a year it possibly saves me 5 - 6 cents and that would almost buy me one shoelace if they're on sale. :D :D No offence meant, just tickles my fancy what interests others. E...

Re: 2014 PCX 150 - speed for best economy

My 2015 seems to get the best fuel economy between 30-35 mph. Thanks for that - is that based on the onboard economy meter (which I think the 2015 model has)? Yes, based on the instant-readout onboard computer. The other factor to consider is wind drag. You can gain a few mpg by adding a real winds...

Re: Reminder, Winterizing info...

... would it be better to change the oil before putting the scoot to bed for the winter, or to change it in the spring? For my little outboard, I change in the fall so that any water or other gunga doesn't get a chance to sit and corrode things. Would the same logic extend to our more terrestrial m...

You know how far you could go if those bottles were filled with gasoline? Sweet You know how plastered you could get if they were filled with beer?  I've stopped on my way home from work & picked up four 22 oz (650 ml) bottles of ale. They just fit with my courier bag, jacket, long-s...

Re: Wrong engine oil?

Sure! :) Like I said, each owner has to decide what they're comfortable using. I'm not comfortable with the lack of available info & unwarranted high price on 4T oils.

Do you use a full syn MA oil? (just curious, really...)

Re: Accuracy of 2015 MPG display?

Honda can't legislate for users failing to fill the tank correctly. It is perfectly possible for your paper calculations to be correct and for the gauge to be correct at the same time. User calculations are determined by the amount of fuel added by the user, the gauge accurately measures the amount...

Thanks j.d.b. , Jge64 , & WhiteNoise . I don't like using outside references only because I've had sites change protocols on me & I can no longer access my photos. When I try to upload my pic, I get this message: " The image must be at least 0 pixels wide, 0 pixels high and at most 1920...

Re: Wrong engine oil?

Everything else being equal, you'll get better fuel economy from an MB-spec oil. If you're interested, you can find some info on oilspecifications.org Personally, I wouldn't run MA or MB oil, simply because automobile oil characteristics are more known than motorcycle oils, and far less expensive to...

Re: Is my parking brake broken?

No, you just need to take up a bit of the slack in the cable. Do you have the Owner's Manual? Page 73 shows you how much freeplay the brake lever should have, & pgs 74-75 show you how to adjust the cable slack. Once you've got the extra slack removed, your parking brake should engage properly. I...

Re: Accuracy of 2015 MPG display?

You don't think Honda would program it to exaggerate the MPG, do you? Say it ain't so! ;) I don't sweat the mileage figures, anyway. It's good, it's about 100 US mpg--who cares if it's 101, or 103, or 99, or ....? Sorry, but I've come to appreciate Honda's attention to detail. This isn't some marke...

Do you know if the Euro PCX125 & the US PCX150 share the same display & software?

Re: New Honda windscreen fits my 2015 !!

More info: After tilting the screen forward, I tried raising it up as high as it would go in all four bolt holes. There's a slight amount of difference between the three positions that I tried, but not much. I think the forward tilt might be the most effective 'deflection' position if you're under 5...

Accuracy of 2015 MPG display?

Just curious if anyone has been comparing the accuracy of the 2015 MPG display with Fuelly and/or manual MPG calculations?
I've only tracked two tanks so far, but both were about 10 MPG higher on the Honda display than they were on Fuelly and when calculated manually. :?
