Which one would you take for a ride in Greece
My summer vacation this year is in Greece and I will rent a Scooter to go around. I have the following options: Honda SH 150i SYM Symphony SR150 Aprilia Scarabeo 200ie Aprilia Sportcity 200 I will do many miles on country lanes, riding along the coastline and two up, hence passenger comfort is param...

Re: Getting My Thai Motorcycle License Without A Test
Dodging dodgy law enforcement and rules would be the least of my worries. Its learning to ride properly that I would worry about, sorry but I don't think that riding a motorised two wheeler without learning how to do it is smart.

Re: London on a PCX (video)
My friend has uploaded this video of him riding across London on a PCX 125. WRRw4Ttm1iE Does your friend ride with L plates and use tracksuit trousers and trainers when riding? Would suit his riding, pisses me off every time an oblivious to danger learner behaves stupidly. And where are all the car...

Re: flasher location
maybe off topic a bit, but anyone know why small scoots(pcx 150 included) don't have a 4 way/ emergency/hazard, flasher/turn signal ? Why would they need them? To warn others of a hazard? To filter through traffic? To be on the safe side if you are stranded on the side of a dual carriageway? There ...

Re: Wide tyres and insurance
I lived in places where they would hazzle you for the tyres on your bicycle. I never had an issue with that, tyres are important, my life depends on them (e.g. when I am going around a greasy roundabout on a cold day with IRC tyres and a van driver who thinks he is Lewis Hamilton is behind me...).

Re: Wide tyres and insurance
At last. A bit of sense. Your better with cheapo winter tyres than summer tyres in the bad weather. I mate of mine bought the cheapest chinese winter tyres a couple of years ago and reckons they are the biz. He goes up rough roads in the winter to do downhill mountain biking when the road cycling s...

He probably meant 15 degrees Fahrenheit, not Celsius. Lee.R: Thanks for the long post. Can you pls clarify what motion camouflage is? I certainly make sure I am seen, not new to riding at all, just to winter commuting on two wheels...got three advanced riding/motoring certificates and driving licenc...

Re: Wide tyres and insurance
Winter tyres and UK: Somehow the locals don't understand it, but if a single life is saved cause you can stop in time with winter tyres (car or bike or scooter), the money was worth it. Anyway, I hope one day the UK lawmakers do get the point and insist on it. Again: Winter tyres are worth it and it...

Re: Wide tyres and insurance
Yep, the op was specifically looking for information about riding in the UK. Winter road conditions here are very different to Scandinavia. Strictly speaking, yes. However the many years I spent in Britain have taught me that it gets cold enough and that snow doesn't only fall in the alps. It is fr...

Re: Wide tyres and insurance
Just one more thing... Strictly speaking the City Grip would be illegal to use in Finland from December to February when winter tyres are mandatory. The law in Finland requires that a motorcycle has rugged tyres for winter use (what ever that is). I reckon it means a blocky texture with big grooves...

Re: Wide tyres and insurance
Interesting legal info, especially when reading through the text of the law (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1986/1078/regulation/27/made) Thanks for that! About IRC winter tyres: Maybe they do them, but if I didn't like the original summer ones, I am not very inclined to try their other products...

Re: Wide tyres and insurance
It's actually worse than that, using the wrong tyres could constitute an offence punishable by fine and/or points. There's no need for winter tyres on a PCX, on the few days you might need winter tyres it would be best to leave the scooter at home. Is it an offence? Oh dear...can I not even have th...

Wide tyres and insurance
Good evening, In my quest to make the PCX my winter commuter, I wanted to combine a swap of tyres with the next regular service. In line with some forum posts on here and in other languages, I wanted to swap them for some winter tyres sized 120/80 - 14 (rear) and 100/80 - 14 (front). The dealer repl...

Re: Hi Visibiliy and being seen!!
Nice job with the decals, certainly helps. However reflective stickers only help with light hitting them directly, if you want to mitigate situations like the one you described, the only way to go is either active light or high viz. I will stick some battery powered bicycle LEDs to my mirror stems, ...

Re: Commuting in Winter?
Diesel, oil, wet and leaves certainly make the roads more slippery. Went to work in London on the PCX today on the A4 just after Reading and from Slough all the way to Paddington I could follow a trail of oil drips that turned into a continuous, greasy, rainbow coloured oil coating on the A40. Unbel...

Re: Commuting in Winter?
If the front slipped on a roundabout you was going too fast for the road conditions. I was at walking pace gingerly going around with close to no lean whatsoever today as it was rainy. The one slip a year ago I was a little faster but it was dry. I never had any other bike slipping its front tyre i...
