Re: Black PCX on the way

Hello, so finally after over a month out of which two weeks I was on vacation cruising around with a Kymco scooter in Turkey, I could be bothered to take some pictures. Only mod I had so far was the Ermax smoked screen, still need to fit the mirror extenders. Didn't ride her much, still got less tha...

Re: Rode in DENSE fog today for first time....

Foggy mask never worked for me, I couldn't get my helmet on over my face with it...but then I was told I got a big fronthead...my Arai got a pinlock insert which is worth its weight in gold, so is the glove rain wiper I got for a fiver, now even less: http://www.getgeared.co.uk/Glove_Rain_Wiper .

Re: routine 2 riders

That is true if the transmission is longer across the board but my understanding is that the only thing a transmission mod will allow is that it will have a longer final ratio at top speed or at constant speed. In any case, I think that we are taking this to a different level which is away from the ...

Re: routine 2 riders

I believe that removing the transmission restriction I will in fact prolong the life of the engine, as for the same speed the revs will be lower. Have you ever ridden a bicycle? Longer gearing is harder to push than shorter. Same speed @ lower revs = harder work for the engine. Yes, but the PCX has...

Re: routine 2 riders

Reading other threads on the German Honda board, they experienced two types of limiters. First it was the transmission that didn't allow any higher gear ratio through a built in spacing limiter, keeping the belt from giving a longer ratio. After that limit has been reached, any gains in speed were o...

Re: routine 2 riders

Maybe you can point me in the right direction? If the gear ratio is modified accordingly, the engine is going to rev at lower rpm, so I don't believe that it would explode. Nor do I believe that suspension, brakes or wheels would be overworked and the tyres' speed rating is still way beyond 70 mph (...

Re: routine 2 riders

Why does the top speed drop with age? Reading some other (foreign) forums the limitation is not with the engine revs or power output but with the gearing. The belt is kept from giving a longer transmission and there are kits to overcome this limit which don't cost too much (50 - 70 pounds). Will def...

Re: routine 2 riders

I have ridden the PCX 2 up and my missus gave good feedback about it. I just asked her and she said "its comfy and I can lean against the top box. I am very happy and I think we can go to France on it and back." Yep, and I felt the same from the captain's position. Even with 2 people it wa...

Re: Took a spill yesterday...

Geez, I knew tracks are slippery but not that much. Happy nothing worse happened. I need to cross a railway crossing in my area, too, but British Rail put some rubbery stuff between tracks and its in a 90 degrees angle. Good to know what can happen. And yes, you will need a new helmet, the inner sho...

Re: What did I do to my PCX150!

Wow! Well impressed with your journey, seems like the little scooter is not only good to go to the shops and back :) Can you tell us a little about the equipment you used? I can see a Louis Bag and some mods for the handlebars. How comfortable was it? Which gear did you have and how many tyres did y...

Re: Dr. Martens boots?

Thanks for the replies, I'm thinking about getting the Doc Martens 6905 (in Brown). There are a few others that are just a little cheaper and may be as protective but I think they are the best option of protection and looks. I don't run around too much so if two people on here can use them fairly we...

Re: Black PCX on the way

Picked up the PCX this Saturday, I really think I sit better on it than on the dealer demonstrator. With the black top box on the black scooter it also looks bigger :D Very good handling indeed, acceleration and braking are great for its size and I was able to demonstrate a few emergency stops to my...

Dr. Martens boots?

Good morning, will pick up the PCX today from the dealership and was looking into getting somewhat more walkable gear, one of the points of getting a scooter is to be a little more comfy when going to the shops or when going for an ice cream and coffee. I really like that some stuff not made for bik...

Re: Mistakes whilst riding.

I got a general problem with those statistics, too. It assumes that we are just part of a lottery and that inevitably we will have an accident, on average, every four years (geez, I'm overdue). That "sod's law" effectively is only 25% of your odds, though, everything else is manageable. Th...

Re: Mistakes whilst riding.

I'm a perfectionist who likes to get things right all the time! Thats the first step towards a long, fun and safe riding career. Not even my IAM observers get it 100% right 100% at the time, but they get close by constant dedication and betterment. I am probably at 50% of what a British Police bike...

Re: Mistakes whilst riding.

Speed is not an enemy, speed is a fact. You can have too much of it or too little. You have to adapt to the circumstances, and if merging into traffic, you have to get up to the speed of it. I agree dual carriageways aren't suited to an inexperienced rider and certainly the more space you give yours...

Re: Mistakes whilst riding.

It is meant to get you up to the speed of traffic whilst you are observing it in your mirrors. That should normally mean (on the PCX) full throttle, mirror, signal, shoulder check (aka life saver), maneuver. Getting up to the speed of traffic will allow you to merge safely by reducing the differenc...

Re: Mistakes whilst riding.

A few dangerous moments I've had in the past, it turns out, were not my fault - for example a car going through a red light, and a car pulling out in front of me (and then beeping at me!) on a road that looks like a roundabout but actually has a give way point (the lane I was in continued straight ...
