Re: 5 day trip to the Smokies
I can see small images, but it says "You must be logged-in to do that." if I click on any of them to view them larger. Ah bummer, you probably have to be a member of advrider to see the full size ones then. Sorry I don't have time to resize them to be tiny enough to meet the specs to be u...

Re: Just checkin' in
Great effort. The swing looks awesome in black, way better than the silver imho. With a comfy chair of a ride like that it's hard to imagine how painful the experience was :) I like it in black too, and it's easy to find matching gear for a black bike. ...but I think my wine red 2004 'wing looked b...

I did like the ability to change seating pos...

Just checkin' in
The Silver Wing is doing great; just finished a 5-day, 1,885 mile (3,054 km) road trip on it. http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8185 It was not without pain. I did over 500 miles (810 km) yesterday, which was quite tough on the ol' body. My back is still a little sore today. I see that...

Re: Got my pick of parking this morning.
Congrats on the new Piaggio, fish. I hope it meets your expectations. I think speed and storage space will suffer, compared to the Burgman. The Piaggios are great-looking scooters. I very nearly bought the used BV350 instead of the Silver Wing, but the storage space advantage and ABS of the Silver W...

Good deal. Hopefully none of the bodywork mounting is busted up underneath from when it was down.

Re: Annoying little thing I can't put my finger on
Looking at that spark plug diagnosis photo that homie posted, it reminds me what a pain in the ass internal combustion engines are. Even good ones have SO many more failure points than an electric motor. With an induction motor, the only failure point is bearings and maybe a thermal protector if it...

Oh, also, in case I forget to come back here, if you join the Scooter Riders of America group on Facebook, I'm there, (my name is Jeremy Zorns) and also on the Battle Scooters sub-forum of advrider.com. (Smaug1, I think)

Re: Talk me out of a Silver Wing
Thanks for the well-wishes, all. This is nowhere near as easy to get on or off the centerstand as the PCX. It doesn't feel as care-free. The Silver Wing rear suspension is very nice though. Even with the smaller wheel, (13") it is somehow a lot smoother than the 14" rear wheel of the PCX. ...

Re: Talk me out of a Silver Wing
I just traded in my PCX on this Silver Wing . You guys did a rotten job of talking me out of it. :? Congrats on the new purchase - looks great. I wonder if 4 times the engine capacity will mean 1/2 the economy? I'm expecting that, but some Silver Wing riders are claiming 60 mpg on these later model...

Re: Talk me out of a Silver Wing
Got to pay to play. It's your choice based on your priorities. Yep. I think I'm going to hang onto the PCX and do this first long trip, and see how it goes. I expect my back to be sore for a week afterwards, but we'll see. Got to give it a fair shake. Nice used Silver Wings with just a few thousand...

Re: Talk me out of a Silver Wing
Fly to somewhere scenic and hire a bike there. Sorted. Typically in the US, only 50cc are available for rental, and in the rare places where they will rent larger, they're motorcycles. Is a Forza, which is quite in the middle of what you need, out of the question? Or a Burg 400.. Burg 400 is not ou...

Re: Talk me out of a Silver Wing
It is hard to talk someone out of something they have such a desire for. I had a Burgman 400 that was great. I had to think long and hard before I sold it. In the end, I traded it down to my PCX 150 simply because I spend more time riding locally than touring or riding around on country roads. YOU ...

Talk me out of a Silver Wing
I had one before, it was the perfect do-it-all bike. It was sitting a bit more than I liked, so I somewhat impulsively sold it. I went with a PCX earlier this year because I figured I've got a young family and I won't have time to go touring. Upon further reflection, that may have been a bad idea, b...

Re: Aftermarket shocks, which ones meant an improvement?
You have a different standard for 'shitty roads' I think, if you weigh 209 lbs. and never had the rear shocks bottom out.you you wrote:...I'm 95kg soaking wet and I've never suffered the shocks bottoming out. Even on shitty North Yorkshire rural roads.

Re: Aftermarket shocks, which ones meant an improvement?
Guess the stock shocks are built for asian lightweight riders. alx123, how much do you weigh? I'm probably one of the lighter American riders here, at 175 lbs. If you have a typical Asian build, you're probably around 150 lbs., not a huge difference. I've had a couple times hitting bad frost heaves...
