Some of my other bikes

Here's a Norton I restored literally from boxes and tubs. No longer have it, unfortunately wasn't matching #s, mostly original except for Corbin seat, Mikuni carb, and homemade oil-air separator I built to accept venting from the PVC (outputs back to the oil tank and a tube to 1/2" above the dr...

Re: True fasts about Top Fuel

Lying on top of one of those engines does seem silly to have a deadman teather. You would be going off for sure
That's connected to an engine kill switch, right ?

PhotoBucket replacement

I know different people have gone different directions for alternatives, but are there any recommendations for one that is rather simple ... I just need it to 1) download pics to and 2) then provide the pics to the various forums I'm on. Thanks !!!

Re: True fasts about Top Fuel

Sheeezzzz, no way would I do that on 2 wheels !!! Maple Grove PA is in 2 weeks, I hope to be there, last time was 5 or 6 years ago. Every time I go I swear the noise and mechanical mayhem is too punishing to go again, but the thrills are just unreal.

True fasts about Top Fuel

If you've never been to an NHRA race, don't die without doing so ..... some true fasts about Top Fuel dragsters from https://texags.com/forums/46/topics/2397648 .... * One Top Fuel dragster outfitted with a 500 cubic-inch replica Dodge (actually Keith Black, etc) Hemi engine makes more horsepower (8...

Re: PCX Drive Belt - What do you think?

If ordered to change the expenditure side of the PCX at a certain mileage, it should be changed. The old oil scooter also could very long ride, but it will break down quickly. I agree with this, the PCX has no oil filter to trap fine particles and etc ..... just a screen to stop any visible contami...

Re: PCX Drive Belt - What do you think?

I recently replaced the spark plug on my scoot with an iridium one and didn't notice any performance improvements. I had correctly gapped the spark plug a couple weeks before. It did look worn out though. I had been advised that spark plugs other than the inexpensive basic versions should not be ga...

Re: Briefly Considered a Motorcycle

I started riding back in the 1970's before they had a lot of the high tech products they do now. Been on some mighty cold rides. Me too. BSA lightning & both Victors are gone, so is the Norton. But Roxanne, my 1970 Triumph stays - she's a wonderful bike. Photo? Sure lots, I nixed my Photobucket...

Re: Clutch 6-sided 37mm socket - hard to find

Seems a good torque wrench will be in the region of £60-70 - is it needed? Can you just add marks for where the bolt or nut was before removal and tighten back to that spot?
No, use the torque wrench.

Re: When and what should be my FIRST maintenance of my scoot

I recommend fitting a FOBO tyre monitor system so it sends alerts to your phone ANY time the pressure drops below prescribed limits (I've had 4 flats in 2 years and that would have helps on more than 1 occasion). I've got one and I wouldn't be without it now. Few things have impressed me as much as...

Re: Cold weather and lower top speed & mpg?

Cooler air is more dense - so it requires more fuel molecules to get the correct fuel/air mixture. Performance should be increased because of this though. Yep, the cooler and drier the air, the more fuel required for the mix - look up "RAD factor" and there's a lot of info - Relative Air ...

Re: 2 mechanics, 2 opinions... what do you guys think?

I think Mech2 did do that then. He had mentioned before that he's flushed the system a few times, run hoses through, somehow checked that the water is flowing, etc etc. (Can't remember exactly what terms/phrases he used to describe what he did, but I think it matches up to what you're describing re...

Re: 2 mechanics, 2 opinions... what do you guys think?

Ah no - I think it's just coming from the overflow tank, not the exhaust. So ie it's the steam coming from the water that's boiling up into the overflow. What does your oil look like? If compression or steam has been forced into it from a leaky head gasket it would usually have a milky/creamy color...

Re: 2 mechanics, 2 opinions... what do you guys think?

I'm looking at page 9-2 in the service manual at it looks like the coolant in a PCX does circulate thru the head as per a typical engine .... but again, I've never had a head off a my PCX so I can't vouch for sure.

Re: 2 mechanics, 2 opinions... what do you guys think?

And has gotten much worse! Some of the questions you guys had asked (eg re the presence of white smoke/steam are now occurring). Is this from the exhaust or the radiator / overflow ? If it's from the exhaust (after the exhaust is hot) you probably have a blown head gasket. Another indication would ...

PCX Flat Style Seat from mpmotorseat.com

Hello all, has anyone tried one of these seats? Is there any benefit of the genuine vs copy frame in regards to how the hump is addressed (I have a 2018 model). Rotating the handlebar front helped a lot with my riding position, but being able to sit a few inches more to the rear would really help to...

Re: Kevlar Jeans - any good?

I've been wearing an armored Joe Rocket jacket for a long time, more recently started wearing Scorpion Covert Jeans - including the hip and knee armor. Maybe not the very best, but certainly helps.
