Re: prices US vs Europe

I bought some gasket material and made my own washers. You could use any number of left over things for them. I think all of those washers shrink or wear out eventually. Go to a hardware store and look around. I am sure that you can get some good ideas. I made my own washers as you suggested - the ...

Re: DEFINITIVE List of Upgrades for Those Wanting MORE Top S

So what did you do to see top end improvements?? Note: all speed indications are from the odometer not GPS speeds. I have a 125 cc PCX esp (2015), stock I was hitting the rev limiter at 105 km/h - only able to reach this when performing crouching tiger moves with wind coming from the back. 1) Insta...

prices US vs Europe

<rant mode on> So today I noticed that my medium sized givi windscreen on my pcx was making some rattling noise at idle engine speed. Got home and took the part just below the windscreen off, next I checked the 4 bolts which hold the windscreen in place. Maybe it is due to the cold so the rubber rin...

Re: OBD2 on Honda PCX that works!

This is pretty legit! I've got a couple bluetooth scanners already, so for $20 or so I can find out my RPM for variator tuning without having to buy a "useless" tach that only serves one purpose. Seems odd that there's no US seller with this "Honda 4 pin" to OBD2 adapter, tho......

Re: It's Raining......

It started to get cold here in Belgium as well, today my morning commute was a bit chilly with ~28°F. Luckily the ice which was on the roads a couple of days ago is gone by now. Last Friday there were lots of black ice spots - at times it felt more like an ice track than a road. Haven't regret the f...

Re: 38°F & rain, so ride or.....?

Same story here this weekend: 2°C and raining but still went out for a ride of around 95km. I do have heated gloves running on batteries, it's not a Li-ion battery but a Lithium Polymer (LiPo) but all kinds of battery suffer from cold... Anyhow on the lowest setting they last around 6 hours, on the ...

Re: Winter riding tips?

When the weather gets cold drivers turn up the heaters in their cars. From that point of view, they are probably not as awake and observant. ... Hmmm...I wonder what their excuses are during the summer. Correct, look up "heat induced fatigue" and how it affects driving skills. So bottom l...

Re: Scooter scene in Mexico

Europe where its affordable is too cold and gray for me. Hmm, there are places in Europe that have 300 plus days cataloged as "sunshine days" a year - the region of Malaga for example in Spain. My parents bought a house there: nice and quiet on a hill overlooking lake Vinuela, with their ...

Re: It's Raining......

Raining and getting cold here as well. On one of my commutes some 2 weeks ago (around 2°C and raining with lots of wind) I felt my front wheel being shifted lateral while driving on a straight road. Additionally while gently braking I had some sliding action on the front wheel. I don't know if it wa...

Re: How-To: Valve Adjustment for Honda PCX

So I did a valve clearance check 1.5 week ago. I don't think it had been done before by the fact that torqued screws still had the paint markings (yellow) nicely aligned. I bought it second hand at 2000km now it reads around 8000km so guess it was time to check the clearances. First of all thanks fo...

Re: Anyone has or tried dr.Pulley variator?

@Testerpt5: any news on the dr. pulley variator, did you buy and install it? Not to hijack the thread but I just swapped the stock rollers with 13.5gr sliding rolls from Dr. Pulley and where I would previously hit the rev limiter at 106 km/h the top speed has increased to 112km/h without hitting the...

1/3 from center or separator line (do not know of that is proper English), so on left side of lane. Forces the cars to overtake you properly instead of pushing you off the road. They can also spot you easier, that is if they are not watching their phones  . If another two wheel contraption rid...

Somehow related: my brother has a small boat and we go out for fishing regularly. Fed up of having our fishing geared tangled up in whatever crap people throw in the water we decided to buy some neodynium magnets which can hold up to 200 kg - attach them to a rope and just throw it in the water wher...

Re: DC outlet limited to 1amp?

Strange, as I thought the fuse feeding the DC outlet socket was 5A's not 1A (it is in my PCX, 15 model LED version). I wanted to use the DC outlet to feed my portable air pump, claimed 6A max draw, but with a 5A fuse did not seem ideal, and then I realised the bike needed to be running so now go wi...

Re: DC outlet limited to 1amp?

On my 2016 pcx it is indeed limited to 1 amp, I bought a small air pump and decided to run it through this outlet (turning the pump on without anything to inflate). It worked fine untill I wanted to inflate a tire with it. It draws around 2 amps and the fuse blew - lucky for me the people at honda w...

Re: Got a speeding ticket on my PCX.

Will your motorcycle insurance premiums stay as low if you don't also insure a car? Here in the US we often benefit from "multi-vehicle discounts," but if I drop my car insurance for motorcycle only then my motorcycle insurance will go way up. We even have "multi-coverage discounts&q...

As long as the shop says nothing to worry about I'll keep riding - will have a full service due in 2000km, which I'll probably reach before end of the year. Not to scare you but do not always trust a shop / mechanic. I like to be on the safe side, you can always go for a second opinion just like yo...

Re: Got a speeding ticket on my PCX.

Over here insurance for my pcx was quite cheap, 140 € for 1 year. Compared to my car insurance (550 € /year) it was a bargain. Glad at least something is cheaper in Europe (cfr. spare parts - especially fairings/ body panels - of pcx which are extremely expensive compared to the US or anywhere else)...
