It turns out it's a plastic bolt and there's already a little hole going down the middle of it. If you don’t have an electric drill it means your tools are relatively sparse. Take it to a body shop or an auto repair place and they can have it out in 30 seconds with an EZ out tool. My other idea was to heat up a flat head screwdriver and press it into that to try and create a "flat head screw". I don't have an electric drill.

Just got my JIS driver and it removed the screw no problem, even in this partially stripped state. Ordered a couple of extra screws to replace the current ones just in case.

Thanks all. I've ordered a JIS screwdriver with a few different tips for it and will leave it alone until it arrives. I don't want to strip it more than I already have. Will update when I try it.
