Re: Mods on the cheap
Tofu, I'm still not sure whether you are talking about a bicycle. If so, you get what you pay for. It would never be cost effective to put higher quality parts on a cheap bike (e.g., a Walmart bike)......better to ditch the cheap bike and buy one of better quality. I'm 70 years old, and it is a lot...

Re: Mods on the cheap
I realise that but it feels weird when your bicycle with mods cost more than the scooter and its mods.

Mods on the cheap
I'm not sure if I want to sink too much money in a cheap bike but what are a few cheap ways one could get the best out of a standard bike? Rollers come to mind but are there anything else?

Re: MCDMA: PCX 150 vs Forza 300 vs Burgman 650
I'm not even bothering opening the engine to check the valves. There's no more tappet sound, has the same amount of power it does, doesn't use more fuel than it already is using and honestly, if it all does turn to poo, it won't be that expensive to fix.

Re: How did I live without it?
I wish mine was white. I have this grey which isn't bad but I've been a white person. I guess if I hate it that much, changing colours wouldn't be too hard.

Re: Video I made of my first valve clearance check
That's what gets me as well. If a bike needs to be services to intensely, why didn't they just make some sort of flip or easy removable bolts. Sure dealers don't make as much money in labour but it makes the job easier, quicker and less prone for panel breakage. I guess there isn't any incentive for...

Re: Forza comparison to PCX150 and other small 'maxi scooter
But doesn't the Forza have a massive glovebox? It's like the PCX that isn't too bad and sorta does fit my Nolan n104 helmet but only if I force the seat shut making the seat bow out in the middle. Anyway, I have a topbox but I'd wish I didn't have one to fit my helmet.

Re: Forza comparison to PCX150 and other small 'maxi scooter
Sensational info. Thx!
I look at the Maj and want it more of my heart. The Forza is more the head but fuel consumption is so much more than the PCX125. Storage is my big point so I feel the Maj wins there.

Re: First service
All this talk about Forza makes me want to switch camps Scooter or sexual orientation? HAHA! OK.. that was a free kick! :D Scooter of course. The larger storage space, the lower level of servicing/higher level of DIY servicing (dislike the valve stuff) which would offset the higher cost of insuranc...

Re: Getting My Thai Motorcycle License Without A Test
The limited riding I did in Phuket I thought was pretty tame if you went with the flow of traffic and didn't do any silly thing. I rode there on a scooter for the first time (although many years on a road bicycle) and that's what got me hooked when I got home. Though when I did go for my license, th...

Re: Fuel type in us
98 RON for me. 1.5 mths between fill up doesn't cost me much. Per tank, it's nothing from going from 91 RON to 98 RON. Also been told not to use any ethanol which is fine by me because I reckon ethanol is terrible fuel and economically waste more money per km than straight petrol.

Re: Centerstand Bosses Revisited
----------- On the contrary. Any internal combustion engine needs warming up, because the oil must be allowed to reach a proper temperature and spread evenly across the moving engine parts for proper lubrication. So, don't touch that throttle immediately but wait a few minutes. Exactly my reason. P...

Re: Centerstand Bosses Revisited
Well, after this thread, I've used the centre stand sparingly. Mainly to warm up the engine as I put in my helmet and gloves since it won't start on the side stand. Maybe I should consider getting on the bike with the all the stands up and sit and idle a bit.

Re: Centerstand Bosses Revisited
So what actually causes the fractures? Is it when you pull the bike back just as the stand stops in its final position?

I'm glad I waited till I'm in my mid 30's to ride a petrol powered bike. I learnt a fair of roadcraft on a bicycle which I still ride more than the pcx.

Re: Difficulty removing oil screen plug
Did you replace the nut after you removed it? I did my first oil change anyway and ended up giving up on the screen (since the book didn't say to remove it). Although after pouring the used oil into a container, I did see some metal fragments the size of sand particles. Saw maybe 3 or 4 with one may...
