Re: Stored for Winter 2013
Yup, the salt is killer. Here they use some other chemical combined with salt, to work better in the colder temps we get. Which of course is even more damaging to metal.

Stored for Winter 2013
Temps are struggling to reach 45 here. And the nights are below freezing now. PCX is officially stored until about mid march 2014. Parked it with 9816 miles on my 2011. This winter I plan on a major overhaul. Replace the original tires, they are just about at the wear bars. Valve adjustment Engine o...

Re: What do you use the oil?
The PCX is not a wet sump motorcycle/scooter. meaning the engine oil does not contact the clutch and transmission systems. The reason for MA rated motorcycle oils is clutch and transmission protection. The clutch in a wet sump system sits in oil! So the oil must transfer the friction forces or the c...

Re: Engine stalled
Relax, breathe, relax. spark plugs are... cheap... be happy you broke the top half and not stripped the soft aluminum engine head.
It is a tight fit to get at the plug opening, but if you go slow, relax, it will work.
Good luck on your next spark plug install adventure.

Re: Engine stalled
Yeah these plugs are not common, hard to find, I bought out the entire amazon.com supply when I bought my scooter. They have since replaced supply, but it's very limited.

Re: Engine stalled
The owners manual has all you need. It's a small area to get at, I had a spark plug socket and I ended up turning it with a wrench.

Re: Engine stalled
Check spark plug gap.
Had this happened to me, could actually replicate it too. Fast blip of throttle while idle right between the piston firing. I think it was flooding the engine. But my plug gap had expanded. Can't replicate any longer.

Re: Valve check every 5,000 miles??
The crankcase breather is the small clear plastic tubing coming out of the black airfilter box, and resting on top of the final drive/belt casing. If you see oil in it (brown stuff) remove tubing and drain it, you don't have to get all the oil out, just what flows. Also pull the airfilter cover off,...

Re: Good upgrade bike
To get an Illinois state license for motorcycle endorsement you must pass on a clutched 250cc or greater motorcycle. I ride my PCX all the time, and just purchased a Dual clutch transmission (automatic shifting) nc 700x. with that said, I ride my girlfriends CBR 250 once in a great while. Once you l...

I've grinded a fair bit off the center stand foot edges on both sides of the scooter. I've got to watch how far I lean. It's so light and nimble though!

No. I wouldn't want to restrict oil flow. Honda designed the engine without a filter.

Re: Replacing A Headlight Bulb
They are. USA and WORLD bulbs are a 30/35watt halogen bulbs. I've read many posts about how much the Thais complain about the crappy dim bulbs they get. I think they are standard filament 25/25 watt. I want to get an HID kit for the PCX as at night I don't think it is enough light for the speeds I r...

For the US: Locking forks. That is it. I did mention I have a disc lock, That got me a discount (very small) And the scooter has a key guard that only opens with the key. They didn't care, no discount on any of the companies I called. BTW the special key lock is just a magnet, which pulls forward al...

Re: Georgia riders - need some clarification on the law
Wow, Not fun situation you have! In Illinois the law is pretty damn clear. under 50cc (49.9cc) Just a driver's license (standard automobile) is required. Allowed on roads 55mph or slower [legislation is being written to restrict these to 30mph or slower roads, but is not law yet of this writing] 50c...

Nice. the engine gets smoother with millage. I'm at 9200 miles. I feel after 8000 the engine finally broke in. It is pretty nice getting an average of 95 mpg. I spend $5 bucks a week in fuel instead of the $45 with my premium only car. Quickly paying for itself! Not to mention the wear and tear on t...

Re: One year ago......
Wish I could ride all year. I loose about 4 months due to too cold, snow, ice conditions. I have a 2011 I bought in March 2012. I have exactly 9122 miles on it now with OEM everything except for spark plug. I'm hoping to reach 10,000 miles before winter storage. Doing a full overhaul, new drive belt...

I have no idea what NH motorcycle exam will be about, you can look that up yourself. What I do know about is the IL exam. Never went faster than 25mph. All of it was about control in slow speed, emergency braking, and avoidance maneuvers. Such as bringing the moto upright before braking in a turn. A...

MB is a JASO rating. There are several levels of "oils ability to transfer friction". In order of friction transfer. MA2 MA MB MB is basically an automotive oil that has been rated. That is why you can use any 10w30 motor oil meeting or exceeding SG grade. More info here: http://www.oilspe...
