Re: PCX150 Power Curve
the Internet is woefully missing any pictures of PCX racing. Unless of course all the racing is at night on unused roads in which case it is drag racing. here you go! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUBeQbr4kv4 Yes I found another Mad Max video before I posted my comment. Kinda the exception that pr...

Re: PCX150 Power Curve
Okay I understand that part I'm familiar to cam duration and lift and lift at .050 specs are different also. But what are you saying? The 280 duration is the takegawa spec and the 330 duration is the yuminashi spec? No I'm not saying either. My numbers come from a site or company that offers two di...

Re: PCX150 Power Curve
What are these specs? 125 vs 150? Intake vs exhaust? Takegawa vs yuminashi? These are from a local Thai website for PCX150i. They are to different grinds one. Different companys use different terms but given the way cams are classified I would say one 280 duration and one 330. It doesn't say if int...

Re: PCX150 Power Curve
So researching the takegawa vs yuminashi camshafts I find that the takegawa is roughly $150 plus shipping and the yuminashi cam plus the required rocker arms and springs comes to $275 plus shipping. Not that I wouldn't want the extra power of the yuminashi cam however I'm not interested in spending...

Re: PCX 150 Further mods
The more power you make the easier/earlier the weights get thrown out so you reduce mass to raise back up the rpm at which they are thrown out. Here's an analogy. You throw a baseball softly and it flies ten feet, then you add power/strength and you throw it 50 feet. Now switch up to a styrofoam ba...

Re: PCX 150 Further mods
Does this make sense? Sort of. But doesn't PCXDeamon have a 170 with after market cam? That would explain his 7700? If from tests you have found that your scooter needs 8000 OK. But the more power you get the heavier the weights can be only 1/2 to 1 gram but... If you have after market cam that mov...

Re: PCX 150 Further mods
I am still confused. i asked this question as it revs just below 8k rpm around 7700rpm,so just enough to lose valuable 1-2sec to 62mph.. So what's the current theory? It would seems that keeping the engine at maximum torque is not as good as keeping it nearer maximum power. I've always wondered. Bel...

Re: Easiest mods for performance/speed
Youyou, you don't need to remove the rear pulley however it makes it much easier for a first timer to do the install. You need to seperate the rear pulley halves to EASILY fit the belt over the drive boss. This is especially true of stiffer reinforced belts as we can't hold them at working tension ...

I suggested this only as the OP doesn't want anything complicated.
What size is the stock belt?

Re: Easiest mods for performance/speed
The most expensive variators will enable you to go over 75 mph on a flat while others will add lots of acceleration but leave your top speed the same. Yes but the expensive ones come with everything you need. No shopping at a hardware store for a copper crush washer, no need to buy a "so-calle...

I have to eat some humble pie. Another guy says it says 4 stroke not 4 valve. So it is the same as before.waspmike wrote:^ I'll recheck the translation with another person. Agreed the first guy could have been non mechanical and/or a wishful thinker.

Re: Latest PCX
By the look of the pics I doubt the seats will be interchangeable. According to ScooterStation it still has a two-valve head. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/697099-all-new-pcx-150-2014/# post #17 specs are at the lower right. It says PGM-Fi 4 valve SOHC la.la.la. This is what the third engine ...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt
Difference between a Michelin and IRC on a 125 ESP on the flat is about 7-8 kph. depending on rider weight. Downhill only about 3 kph.

Capacity down to 149 cc but now has 4-valve head.
Interestingly this didn't surface here until earlier this week when a couple of expats were complaining about the lack of PCX 150's available at certain dealerships.

Re: fuel economy improvements
There are some variators/pulley halves sold that are 120mm like the A-Pro ( i think that is it ) that Pcxdeamon uses. So there is a little bit of room. How much of the pulley is used by the stock set up? The old V.1 has a 3mm band at the outside that wasn't used. I don't think anyone ever checked a ...
