Got my 2018 PCX 150 two weeks ago. Had not ridden a motorcycle or scooter in almost 10 years. Previously, I owned a KTM 690 SMR (my last bike), Suzuki SV650 (second bike), and my first bike which I learned to ride on was a Honda CB400 Hawk. I also had a Honda Elite 80 before getting a motorcycle.
I sold my motorcycle right before we bought our house. I thought I was done with riding but over the past couple of years, I just realized I was missing it too much.
I was thinking of getting a Honda Grom but in all honesty, I really didn't want to have to do any shifting. I wanted to be able to hop on, twist, and go. I'm very happy with the PCX. It has enough power to climb all our San Francisco hills and it feels like a small motorcycle. Puts a smile on my face every time I get on it.

Forget the Grom, I test rode it once and at the time had a PCX125. The PCX125 handled better, and had a stronger motor. I don't like to shift either, so I am a scooter guy just like you.
Nice! I'll bet a PCX is just perfect in San Francisco (on all but the steepest of climbs). I can't think of anywhere where you can really break 50 in the city limits (legally or not).
You've ridden before, so you know you are invisible - even moreso on the smooth, quiet PCX. Be hyper-careful!
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

Probably is good for smaller riders , but I rode both a scooter and a smaller Honda motorcycle in Frisco yrs ago....found, at 6'3", 175lbs, I really appreciated the bike's gears for both climbing, and descending the hills! Easier on the engine and the brakes.

You made a nice choice - and a wise choice, for SF. I lived out that way two years, in the Navy...beautiful city (before its current issues) but the hills, with stop signs halfway up/halfway down...made driving in town a terror, for me with my VW Vanagon camper with manual shift.
As a new owner of a PCX 150, having sold my 125...the bigger engine transforms the machine. Honda did exactly right, and for the right market. The 125 was a miser on gas; the 150 trades a little of that off for eight mph on the top end.
You've got power enough, and light weight, and ease of operation...and the ability to park in cracks. Good choice.
1972 and passing through San Fran on my way to Mexico had the pleasure of trying to get my 63 VW van airborne, aka Bullit. 3 am and after leaving the Garden of Earthly Delights.

Hey, big bear. I get ya. I rode to work on my PCX for the first time today. God, I missed riding so much. The weather has been fantastic in the Bay Area. Here is a view of the Bay Bridge from our conference room. I look at this view every day.

I have to agree with you about the Grom. It was a fun little bike but not practical for me; and even smaller wheels than the PCX. I have to admit though that I parked next to a KTM Duke 390 and it wouldn't be such a bad thing to own one.

Thanks, JustPassinThru. I'm a SF native and even with all it's faults and the changes taking place here, I still love this city with all my heart.
I've always driven a manual car. We have a 2006 Honda Element which is our "road trip/camping" machine. I crack up every time we have friends visiting and they want to drive the hills. They totally freak out. As with anything, handling the hills just takes practice. You just gotta know your clutch.
I think I made the right choice too. I was going to wait for a 2019 model but I was told I might have to wait until August or September for one. And I wasn't too sure about the metallic bronze color choice.

You're right, GeorgeSK. It's totally perfect in San Francisco. I think I'm going to upgrade the exhaust. It helps to be a little noisy so car drivers can hear you approaching. I had an Akrapovic exhaust on my previous KTM. It gave me an extra feeling of safety splitting lanes.

Hey, fish. Yup, the PCX is very good for smaller riders. I feel very comfortable on it. I agree about gears for climbing and descending hills. There are a few well-known hills I can think of that I don't want to do very often on the PCX.

Yes, IvyGodivy. I can attest to the fact that the PCX will climb our very hilly terrain. My very first ride was to attack some of our toughest hills. The 153cc is solid. I would not go for anything smaller. Even with a 178# passenger, I was able to ascend many Potrero Hills.
