Hi all,
New to this forum and immediately posting a question. After never giving me any problems, my ignition key won't turn anymore. I tried the spare, and sprayed WD-40. Nothing helped. Some well aimed hits to the back of the lock with a metal rod (while wiggling the key), managed me to get it to turn. But after taking out the key, the problem was back. It looks like one of the pins in the lock is broken.
So it looks like I need to replace the lock. I see various locks available online, varying from €30 to €90.
Does anyone here have any experience with replacing the lock? Is it a hell of a job, or quite simple?
I think the biggest issue is gaining access to the lock itself.
Cheers!
Mark

It sounds like someone had previously tried to mess with the lock.
You are more than likely going to have to remove a lot of panels to replace it. You can buy a new lock assembly but your old key will not fit the new one, so make sure you get or make a second key. The lock assembly SHOULD have plug in connectors. If not, good luck. It is not a simple job, but if you take your time you should be able to do the replacement yourself.

Yeah, I think someone might have tried with a screwdriver or something. I have been looking, and there is 1 panel that surrounds the lock. When I look up from the bottom (front wheel), I see it is held into place by at least 2 yellow brackets. I cannot see any screws, but am afraid to apply pressure. Don't want to break a panel (even though it is a 2015 model, it has less then a 1000 miles on it and has been stored indoors), it still looks brand new.
Is there an instruction manual to be found anywhere? I have been searching youtube, but have not found information on this specific job.
Any help is appreciated.

If you’re going to work on your bike, and try to do the stuff yourself, you need the shop manual. They are on eBay for about 50 bucks.
