Suggestions for the best way to tie down a load

Somewhere on this fantastic forum I thought someone suggested the best method for securing larger objects on the back.
Can I be directed to that or a have refresher posted?
I'm getting a 25 lb of birdseed. Working from home means I needs to improve the view in my backyard. And I don't care how cheap gas prices get its always a better ride on a PCX than a minivan.

My first question would be, do you have a tailbox rack? A 25 pound bag would probably not fit in a tailbox, though you could experiment at home to see. However, you COULD put a milk crate on the rack, and it should work. Don't try to carry it by itself as the bag is quite slippery. Boxes work well, even cardboard boxes.

Yes, I can remove the tailbox and use the rack. I should have mentioned that.
I can also place the bag into a duffel bag that has handles and loops.

You might be able to fit it under the seat, especially if you divided it up into 2 bags. Just take a small garbage bag along and some twist ties.

It is a little late now, since you are already about to pick up your parcel, but you should read this thread I created long ago. It works well. I have used these multiple times with no problems, and they tie back out of the way when not in use.
