The tail bag looks more like it's part of the bike.

You'll probably find it easier to park in tight places without having to worry about bumping the top box into anything.

Are there reflective surfaces on the bag . . . the lettering?

You may still find there are times when you wish you had the utility of the top box but for most of the day to day riding the tail bag will get the job done.

Plus, you can take the bag with you . . ..

Not enough reflective material on the bag, I'm planning to stitch some into it.

I'm keeping the rack just in case I'm planning to take some longer trips where I can use both the bag and the box.
