I have a class that is 80 miles away round trip. I will be going 55mph for roughly 85% of the way and was wondering if anyone has done something similar while calculating their mpg? I weigh around 215lbs if that matters and want to make sure at the very least, one full tank will last me.
PS- My car is a chevy cruze and I get 43mpg going 55mph with me and my gf in the car. Would that end up being more economical if I brought her?
Thanks!
Anyone have an accurate 55mph mpg?

You should make that on one tank . I normally get about 120-130 miles from a tank with reasonably full throttle. If your worried about it carry a litre of fuel in a suitable container under the seat incase you need it..

Not unless your girlfriend was incredibly heavy....strickamania wrote:I have a class that is 80 miles away round trip. At a constant indicated 55mph you should get at least 80-85mpg (proper imperial gallons)
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

I get 80 MPG US on the freeway, and 100 MPG off the freeway.

My wife is not as heavy as you are and we ride within the 45-55 MPH range. I can tell you from experience that with a tank that carries less than 2 gallons, you won't make 160 miles without adding some. We carry a 1 liter spare in the tail box when we know we are going to push the limit.

As for the 80 miles round trip, that will be easy, I promise.

I did a 60 mile road trip to find my lost cell phone. I got 80 mpg and was doing WOT most of the way.
Re: Anyone have an accurate 55mph mpg?
If you're concerned about mpg, I would suggest a windshield. I've had my PCX for about 9 months and just turned 10,000 miles. I bought a Givi windshield at about 8,000 miles. I have about a 50 mile round trip to work at an average of about 55, (I tend to sleep late so it's wide open throttle if I hit a red at the 7 stop lights). Pre windshield I was getting around 85mpg, post windshield 98-103mpg. I sell recreational power sports for a living and could not be happier with my PCX. Pre windshield I was getting 80-90mpg.
