Re: What is your cage?
Ok, I have got to throw in a little story of something I saw once. That picture of the Z4 reminded me of it. I was at a gas station one day trying to get directions to someone's house. While talking to the mechanic this very low slung Z car pulls in to the pumps. It had some wide tires on it but it was within inches of the ground. The mechanic suggested that the owner must have bought a lowering package for it because he had never seen one so low. The driver's door opens and this HUGE man squeezes out of it. Then just before he reaches for the pump the car suddenly springs up to normal height! No one was going to laugh because of the size of the brute that got out of the car, but really wouldn't you laugh?? We had a heck of a time keeping a straight face till he left.

The trailblazer isn't worth the low mpg. Probably looking at a mazda6 or something along those lines. Checking out a rice burner honda civic this weekend. 35 mpg

Re: What is your cage?
"Rice Burner" or "rice rocket" were the derogatory terms used by macho types on Harleys, Triumphs, Nortons, etc. The counter (which I always liked) was "I would rather ride my rice burner than push my Harley". Given the reliability of Japanese motorcycles over the years, it is clear that rednecks will be rednecks, and hold their opinions dear against any and all evidence to the contrary.
Oh - and back to topic - Newest wheels are a 2013 BMW 320x (traded a 2007 MINI Cooper - great car, great mileage, but limited robustness), then a 2009 Dodge Ram 4x4 (seriously thirsty), and a trusty 2000 Volvo V40. We don't need so many vehicles, but my son is in grad school and can't decide if he wants to commit to car ownership (his girlfriend has wheels). That may change - it would be nice to get the stable down a bit.
Speaking of rednecks...
Actually making fun of AOL, not Oklahomans.
I was wondering who filed the complaints, and if they used ghost writers...

On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

Re: What is your cage?
That is what I was looking at. Unfortunately when dealer got it looked at it had a blown valve gasket and bad brake rotors and he wouldn't go down in price. He still believed blue book value is his minimum even if it needs $800 in repair workdmiles13 wrote:2013 Mazda 3

Re: What is your cage?
We have had 2 Volvos, both of which ended up with very high mileage. The engines were strong and reliable. The same couldn't be said for the rest of the car. The first one ended up costing us $16,000 in repairs throughout its lifetime. The second one was much better and we only spent about $1,000 in repairs to keep it road worthy. The first one had 185,000 miles when we sold it. The second one had 256,000 miles, and it was a turbo. My wife absolutely loved that car, but we needed less visits to the mechanic, so we bought 2 Hyundai cars and have had zero problems. The oldest one is now 11 years old, and I have spent nothing on repairs other than oil changes and tires. Can't beat that. The second one is now 6 years old and so far has been a dream car. We love the style of the new Sonata turbo but we don't like payments, so we will just keep our 2008 Sonata, and our 2003 Santa Fe till the wheels fall off.
