Re: How cold will you ride?
13 degrees F. is the lowest temp that I have ridden in. I probably would go lower but there has always been snow on the ground when it has been colder than that. Dress in layers and make sure outer layer is wind proof and good thermal lined boots and all is good.

Re: How cold will you ride?
0 to -2 Celsius today. Quite OK. Though if I would have more than 19 km to ride I would get cold.

Re: How cold will you ride?
Amazing! Got some really chilly riders here.
I just ordered some thermal lined riding pants. Been using my regular riding pants plus wind proof liner and jogging pants under them.

Re: How cold will you ride?
I bought a pair of these Castelli winter bicycling gloves for $30:
I started wearing them last spring when the temps in the morning would dip down around 30 degrees F. These gloves are amazing.

Well, we're in the northern hemisphere and should be well into fall but will have a high of 85 degrees today, and 90 degrees tomorrow. Summer, will it ever end?SECoda wrote:He is just heading into summer.

Too many ex-bikes to list, and, besides, who really cares what we used to own?

Re: How cold will you ride?
It's been a little nipply in central PA --- a few days of 35F to 37F in the AM. Normally I wouldn't be out in that but the rest of the day has been nice. I have a pair of pit crew gloves, padded, and they keep my hands fairly warm especially since I got the tall Givi screen. It seems to deflect a lot of the wind away from my hands. I have, however, had the entire screen get completely fogged in the cold air. I've had to peek over the top or around the sides until the wind direction changes and clears it. Since we're supposed to be getting an "el niño" , it might stay above 50 through the end of November or later. In that case I'll keep on riding 'till Christmas.

Re: How cold will you ride?
I wear a full set of electrically heated liners. The pants and jacket I rarely turn up pas 50% and the glove liners almost burn my fingers if I wear ski mittens instead of gloves over them if it is warmer than 40F. I will ride 40 miles to work toasty warm any day there is no ice on the roads including pouring rain.

I live in San Diego and I people say it doesn't get cold.. coldest I've ever been is 32 Fahrenheit, last winter. add the wind chill factor of 65 miles an hour brings it down to like 27f.. this year I might get some super warm winter gloves.

Wee amounts. I don't do ice in me nose. Nor finger freeze. Quit before the cold. I gets cold fast. Scoot-n-I have staring contests. Then "I Cry Just A Little" and pray for Spring.

Re: How cold will you ride?
I ride even when it drops to -3 Celsius ,I use electric heated pants and coat ,I'm going to add heated insoles for my boots, but find my hands don't get to cold with just winter motorcycle gloves on shorter trips ( less then 20 kilometers)I find the honda tall windshield deflects some air away from my hands keeping them warmer, but at cooler temperature and long trips my hands do get cold .

Re: How cold will you ride?
I will ride around 50 degrees but not much below that. I did pick up some winter gauntlet gloves and they make a huge difference. My fingers are warmer but because they are gauntlets it keeps the wind out of my jacket so the rest of me is warmer as well. I want to get a full helmet but I have a 3/4 helmet so my face gets a bit cold. I have a buff that I pull up and it keeps my neck and bottom half of my face warm. I'm hoping to pick up a tall windshield before it gets too cold.
This year we aren't storing the PCX just the motorcycle. My husbands want to ride when we have warmer weather in the winter time. In our tiny 2 car garage we can have both cars and the PCX but not the motorcycle.

Re: How cold will you ride?
So far the coldest I've been out was 48 degrees. Was good to go except for the hands. Today we took off at 4:00pm and the temp was at 62. Got home at 10:00pm and the temp was 55. Hands were fine. Funny how a few degrees can change everything. Will be trying my leather mitts soon. And hope to get my thermo lined riding pants soon. Don't have the plug set up for heated riding gear. Did see some battery powered gear. But, it's kind of pricey.

Re: How cold will you ride?
The wiring you need comes with the heated clothing. The PCX's battery is right under the seat so it is a 5 minute install to hook up the wiring. The only tool needed is a small ratchet and a 10mm socket.Steph wrote:Don't have the plug set up for heated riding gear.

Re: How cold will you ride?
@Sendler2112 - Thanks for the info! that is good to know just in case I decide to go that rout.
2112 by Rush is one of my favorite albums.
@Valiant - Must be nice. Does it get really hot where you live? Any work out there? I can always relocate.

I was 14 when 2112 came out. I literally listened to it 1000 times the first year and can still play every note in my head. Check out the "rockers" thread for some modern prog metal recommendations I just posted.Steph wrote:@Sendler2112 - Thanks for the info! that is good to know just in case I decide to go that rout.2112 by Rush is one of my favorite albums.

Re: How cold will you ride?
Nope! it sucked, Layers and layers, and more layers...my main issue was my chin, hands and thighs... Skipants, thermals and goretex over the top to keep the wind off a bit.iceman wrote:You gear must be good for you to cope with those temps!Urbanfreestyle wrote:I ride all year round, ridden in italy once at -15°c without factoring in windchill!
