Yes we are just calling it differently.
The Xenon light source is not in the same place as the halogen bulb

Your drawing is not correct. The overall length of the HID bulb is much longer. As you already stated. Which means that the light source being in the middle of the HID actually puts the light of a properly designed HID retrofit in exactly the dame place as the halogen bulb you are taking out. But there is no denying that the more modern bi-shutter HID projector lenses have a far superior vertical cut off to any reflector lens, halogen or HID. How hard was it to get the stock headlight apart?

Well, it it was in the same place - it would make the same effect as the halogen bulb, in terms of light scattering and cutoff line. It doesn't. But I guess there is no need to keep discussing it.

It was easier than I expected.
Pre-heated the oven to 130 Celcius (30 or 40 min), in went the headlight for 8 minutes at 110 degrees Celcius, and after doing half - it went back in for another 3 minutes because it was cooling down.

So now will you trial fit the the open headlight back onto the PCX and wire it up so you can tune the aim so they are both perfectly level and at the same height?

For an H7 headlight it would be easier, there is an adapter for horizontal level.
The height - no need, the height adjusting mechanism works as before, I would use the screws below the headlight, as always.

To make sure that both are leveled horizontally - yes, I will put the open headlight on the skeleton I have in my garage and connect everything, before tightening the screws that hold the projectors :-)

P.S. Actually, the bottom part of the projectors is flat. I could just hold something straight under the two and make sure they both touch it. That would do the trick.

Which emitters and ballasts did you get? 25 Watt? 8,000k? The pattern is perfect but the light output seems to be a small amount and is way too blue.

It looks a bit weird on these photos but it's absolutely white in real life, with blueish cutoff. I will try to get a picture with more realistic colors.
35W 6000k.

Sure, they got LHD and RHD.

The price is for 2 projectors, Xenon kit not included.

But you can buy the Xenon kit on the same website for 17 or 18 euros, too.

And the shipping is free. So it's really a cheap thing to do.

I installed the LED Ribbons today. it was fairly easy with the main issue being the size of the heatsinks and locating the processor boxes. The butterfly style heatsinks are huge and i needed to move some wires out of the way, nothing too dramatic though. I rigged it all up without doing a full install, so i could do some heat testing first and found that it only got to a lukewarm temp over most of the parts with the exception of the nipple things at the rear of the main globe part. This part got very hot quite quickly but it was easy to keep wires etc away from it. Overall the install was straightforward with a bit of research concerning honda wiring colours and translating the japanese instructions. I now have LEDs allround on my bike and as I have just moved to the outskirts of my city, the improved high-beam will be very handy.
