Is PCX 150 warranty still valid after crashing?

Post by PaPCX »

Well, I came in a corner a little bit hot, the dodgy rear stock suspension bottomed out after hitting a tiny bump, and the brand new bike bucked and slide to a tragic fate. :(

Now I'm looking at getting this bike fixed. Obviously crashes aren't covered under warranty and I'll need to pay for it myself. However, I'm concerned that if I take it to a Honda shop to be fixed, they will write down the VIN and cancel the warranty for future claims, as it's been crashed before. So if I were to have an engine problem a month or a year later, I'll be out of luck.

My question to the forum is: Is my concern a reality, or does the warranty still apply to a bike that's been repaired after a crash?

I appreciate your knowledge and experience. Thanks.

The wareanty does still apply but will not cover any failure caused by accident damage.
You should be fine for continued warranty cover on the engine.

Dealers make money when they do warranty. They're not out to cancel you , that be like canceling a meal ticket. And they certainly don't have time to track your bike as opposed to the other stuff that they're working on.

Thanks gn2, Jge64, those are both very helpful posts.

Have you had this experience before gn2?

Not me personally, no.
But a friend of mine smashed the front end of their bike in and some months later got warranty work done on the engine by the dealer who had previously repaired the crash damage.

So how bad was the accident? Was it just the plastics or did your frontend sustain damage? Plastics are easy enough to replace. Other parts are not as easy, but Dave has taken his pcx down to just the mechanical parts so you should be able to fix almost everything.
