Defence with firearms is an issue for the authorities.
That's what the British told the colonists LOL... when was the last time the authorities prevented a mass killing??????"there's never a cop around when you need one"" I think I've heard that one a few times as they carried the casket.

I wouldn't trust you lot with a water pistol..

Well, there goes this thread.

As I've stated I'm a man of peace. While I carry a concealed firearm, I do so with the hope that it will never see use except on the practice range. This flies in the face of the false perceptions of firearm ownership, but oh well. I refuse to conform to other people's stereotypes.

Not to quibble, nor argue, but where is it noted that firearms are a taboo subject? Clearly politics and religion are stated as such, but none of my firearms have ever run for office, nor do I worship them. :D

Just seeking clarification.

Your quite correct. It's not in the forum rules, but it's caused problems before that have rendered threads being sent to the D and BS section. It's more of a unwritten rule really.

The thread is about what to carry on board whilst out and about in a possible emergency. Some feel that a handgun is essential and the discussion went to explaining why this particular tool is essential. Some have the position that this particular tool is unnecessary, and others feel its essential. For example in many countries it may not be necessary, but in targeted countries like the US and UK, France and others it is an essential as anytime and anyplace can be a war zone. So its essential in some countries as it may not be in others. Personal safety is something that differs among humans and that is where the rub begins. You'll get the same argument over wearing a helmet or not, and then it will be the kind you have vs the other kind. Its all good..Just relax and enjoy the banter..

If you got caught with a handgun of any sort in the uk you would be arrested, jailed and possibly shot by an armed response unit if you were waving it about.
Even airguns will be licensed shortly. Carrying a knife is also illegal and you would be arrested.

and some countries like to dictate your personal safety needs. In this case government is allowing evil force to prevail over benevolent force. This imbalance is music to a criminals ear and makes the force used against someone one sided. The innocent have no chance in this scenario. When there's no equalizer , guess who wins!! I have no issues with proper training/ licensing, but do have issues of anyone or government dictating on how to protect myself or family from the elements of harm .

I suppose the trouble with firearm discussions seems to be that people can't seem to keep to just a discussion about the firearms themselves, and the conversation quickly becomes a political one.

The only reason I brought up my .380 in the first place was simply that it is indeed a tool I carry with me while riding my scooter. I see it as such and am responsible with it as I am with any of the tools I own. I also am not stupid enough to "wave it about." I have a story I could tell about this, but since it would verge onto political discussion territory, I shall refrain. I'll keep it to an acknowledgement that I get annoyed at people who flaunt their firearms in public. It's not a frikkin' toy.

Ok, this isn't right. BS and drama and I apologise for my part in this.

Dan Wesson makes fine hand guns. I like and carry the Dan Wesson Guardian in .45ACP.

Here's my 2 cent. I am a British expat, I guess not any more since I am U.S. citizen. I always carry a pistol on me when I ride. Depending where I go dicatates which one I carry. I will never allow anyone again to disarm it's people. Liberty or death! Long live the republic!

So yes. I am reorganizing a lot of my survival gear and want to redo my pcx edc gear. Mainly with a focus on edc / motoring breakdown, rather than a bug out bag.

I never knew AAA cover you for scooter breakdown?

From the AAA website:

"AAA Plus RV and AAA Premier RV Membership

Enhance your AAA Plus or AAA Premier benefits by adding RV coverage. RV provides up to 100 driving miles of towing for motor homes, pickup trucks with campers, travel trailers (including fifth wheel), motorcycles, camping trailers, snowmobile trailers, and boat trailers."
2013 PCX 150 [now an ex-bike, soon to be consigned to the bottom line of the sig]
2013 Silver Wing ABS (Black)
1971 BMW R75/5 (White)
Too many ex-bikes to list, and, besides, who really cares what we used to own?

My EDC consists of a UK legal knife (aka "a small one"), a phone and credit card. It should be noted that in the UK you generally need to make an effort to to be more than 5 miles from civilisation. If you're fit enough to start replacing belts then you're likely fit enough to walk to get help.
