The life expenctancy of PCX, how long does she last?
I purchased in total three scooters.
My first scooter, a bootleg unbranded scooter.
Very bad quality,
Fire plug casing broken, left me in mid of nowhere. Sigh.
Throttle line broke, left me at 8pm in total gothlic dark mountains. Frightened.

My second scooter, the legendary Honda SCR100 by a Honda-China joint venture.
This scooter lasts 12 years, still in solid condition. I gave it away to a forum friend when I purchase a PCX2016 last month.
This scooter is considered the most dependable bike in China, having a reputation of being "un-F***brokable".

Re: The life expenctancy of PCX, how long does she last?
My third scooter, the current one, is the PCX 2016.
I bought this scooter because, despite excessive 4K USD price tag and non-legal status, still a lot of people bought PCX here.
I am wondering, how long does PCX last? Can PCX last as long as the legendary 100 scooter I mentioned above?
Given PCX is only in market for around 6 years?

Re: The life expenctancy of PCX, how long does she last?
The PCX will last a long time but it will depend on you as much as on the bike itself. Clean it and change its oil ever so often. Keep in mind that no bike likes dust all the time, so make sure the filters are clean and change its oil often. Only you can tell how long it will last, but the PCX has been very popular in Thailand, and there are thousands of them on the road there. That says something about their popularity and dependability. As far as I know there is really only one problem that the newer version of the PCX has suffered, and that is the clutch bearing. Hopefully that problem has been solved by now. Otherwise, it should be a bullet-proof bike.
Currently own:

Good for you. It is exactly what I hope to do with my PCX when I am done with it or when I moved back to the US, whichever comes first, although I imagine it won't be to another forum member/friend, but likely to a poorer Thai person. Maybe one of the employees at work or one of the security guards at my condo building.doletotodole wrote:... I gave it away to a forum friend when I purchase a PCX2016 last month ....

I can't answer your question, Dole, but thank you very much for taking the time to post all those pictures. Your country has some beautiful places.
The SCR100 is a pretty nice looking little machine - it looks purposeful and stubborn. Judging from your experience, it is sad that it never made it to US (at least, not to my (very limited) knowledge). OTOH, most US riders don't seem to like scooters, keeping their two-wheeled adventures to big trips involving a fair bit of fast roads. I see very few scooters in my suburban area - a place where I think my PCX makes a world of sense as a daily driver nine months of the year.

On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

When I traded it the mileage was around 19,000 miles
The scooter has had at least two owners since me and is still going strong, I still see it buzzing about sometimes.
At its last MoT (safety inspection) in November last year it had 31,500 miles on the clock.
With proper maintenance I dont see any reason a PCX should have any problem outlasting its owner...
Amazing pictures, really enjoyed them

Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

I don't know about life expectancy, but it sure does make for clear blue skies and improved camera resolution.

Wonderful photos. Your streets look deserted.
The legendary scooter maybe well be unbreakable, and versatile with its step through platform, but not handsome like PCX.
I think my PCX will outlast me. I don't see why not.

Re: The life expenctancy of PCX, how long does she last?
Totally awesome pics man. . .thanks for sharing. It's like a tour of China from home.
Any Honda product I've had lasts a long time. . .especially the engines. I had a Honda Rebel 250 years ago I put about 23,000 hard miles on riding year 'round and through many storms. The exhaust pipes started to rattle and the tires wore out and the chain stretched but the motor just hummed right along. Easy to change the oil and adjust valves on that one! I eventually sold it cheap to someone who was willing to put some time and money into it. . .
I'm counting on the PCX to last a long time as well. My only real concern is to be careful uninstalling and reinstalling the panels when I have to do motor maintenance, valves, etc. . .. I don't want to crack anything or snap any parts. I may try using a little grease or something with a tool to remove panel parts the first time I try. I have no idea if it's worth the effort or not but in other applications sometimes it makes tight part removal or installation easier.
Your second scooter reminded me of the more recent Honda Elite 110.

I spotted this page that had some useful information for panel clip removal tools. . .
See the link https://www.autoevolution.com/news/how- ... 60970.html
Since I haven't pulled a PCX apart myself yet I can't speak from experience but maybe someone else can chime in here. . .

Here' more info and tips for panel removal/installation on motorcycles in general. . .
http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/how-t ... -mc-garage
I guess they suggested using a silicone lubricant. . .especially for grommets. The upside to that is it wouldn't attract dirt.

Re: The life expenctancy of PCX, how long does she last?
Well, I think of my PCX 150 as a "he"! I have put 16,000 miles on my 2015 PCX 150 in a year and ten months. That is about 800 miles a month. I change the air filter and oil every 5,000 miles. The secret of longevity is to follow the maintenance chart in your owner's manual! The mighty little 150 should last at least 20 years with proper care and maintenance!

No number plate because its too old, can't be bothered to give it one. If the police stops me, I would simply chuck the bike away and run.Lafree wrote:Hi, love your pics ,you have no number plates on your scooters why ?Do you not have to insure them also, on picture 6 what is the brick tower for drying hopps or something.

The brick tower, I have no idea what it is for.
