On my Boxer Cup you have to do that and remove the fuel tank. That is a pain in the arse too.

Under steer: The front of the car hits the wall,
Over steer: The rear of the car hits the wall,
Horsepower: How fast the car hits the wall,
Torque: How far the car pushes the wall after it hits the wall.

A lot of those battery "chargers, floaters, maintainers", keep charging the battery which is fully charged, resulting in damage of the battery.
I would not leave anything plugged in after the battery if fully charged....
Lead acid batteries do fine with periodic top off during storage - e.g. once every 3 weeks.

Any of the battery maintainers made by Deltran, which is sold as the brand “battery tender”… Can be connected and left on forever. Because it is three stage charging that lowers the current to a float status, which means that it keeps it at or near 100%, if it’s near 100% it backs off the charge. Totally safe. If you don’t need a boost capability and just want to keep your battery topped off , there is no need to spend more than what they charge for the battery tender Junior:
