Would a lack of lube cause it to crack like that?!? Looks more like a casting problem, maybe hot metal being splashed with cold water when you go through puddles etc...

Never really looked under there before but the metal does look a little thin for the weight and usage its getting.

Might start using the side stand from now on....

It's a casting problem, not a lubricant problem. Having it well-lubed will make it go up and down easier, meaning you'll be more gentle with it.

For reference, WD-40 is not a lubricant, it will patch the issue but won't fix it. I recommend generic automotive grease for this application -- there's no reason to use a spray, grease will work better and is cheaper.

I use "Liquid Wrench" Brand "Spray Grease".....unlike WD-40 and Other such Type Penetrants, it goes in as a really thin penetrating lubricant, but after an hour or so it "gels" into an actual "Grease"......I've used it for years on things like Auto door hinges, key cutting machines, etc., etc. .....Really good stuff, and at 7000+ miles, I slid the Pin partially out of my PCX125's Centerstand and it still hadn't ever gotten tight....goes in like WD-40 but works/becomes like Grease.....

Reminds me of when i took mine in for a new front tyre, i went to pick it up and found the fattest lump of a mechanic sitting on my scoot having a coffee using the center stand!

Yeah, it works well in tight spots that requires "aggravating disassembly" of parts to apply grease, but something that requires much more viscosity than a simple penetrating "Oil".....

Well i just went to check mine and its cracked on the left side, looks like ill be using the side stand from now on!

This is my first honda and i'm not overly impressed with the build quality...

Ben, curious what else are you disappointed about quality wise?

I'd imagine he's disappointed that his engine case cracked from the centerstand!

Ah yeah, that does suck! Perhaps a-to-be "Recall" on the center stand mount to casting? Is that said right? Bad and sad this is happening to some of us and thanking those members for bringing it to our attention. Fingers crossed....We all should take a peep "down & under there." What should we zero in on...around the bolts? Me Cranky back won't last long peeping around, if someone could point Arrows in a photo to the area(s) to be checked it certainly would help. Or add "pointers" to earlier posted photo(s)? "Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps?"

Yes, look around the bolts. If it's broken, it'll look like my PCX did:

Mine has just a crack across it tho hasnt 'opened up' like maddiedog's but i'm sure if i continued using it i would be in trouble. I never abused it really so would expect something that is going to be used as often as the stand would hold up better than this.

I have been using the side stand today and literally hate it, takes up loads more space in the garage, carnt rest anything on the seat and carnt just start it to let the bike warm up while im putting my helmet etc on. Just bought a new boat so upgrading the bike is out the question till next year.

Maybe i'm expecting too much from a 125cc, but then again its a Honda so i guess i was expecting perfection!

I would call it a design/manufacturing defect...Honda would say we misused the stand and the reason for the reinforced 150 stand will be for the extra weight...when word gets out its going to effect my resale value. Think ive gone from £1500 to £1200-£1100 resale if the buyer sees it? Its now the only problem with my scoot.

When you actually look at the bracket you can see that (in aluminium) its not going to last...

What extra weight?
A couple of pounds tops.

Looked at mine yesterday and it looks ok. I will be checking it regularly though.

Can I ask, which model of PCX do you have? PCX 125 or the PCX 125ESP?
It might help us to narrow down which models are most at risk.

Seems to be the 2011 USA PCX125 and 2011/2012 PCX125s elsewhere are the Models with the minimal Center Stand Bosses.....

Went to ye local Honda shoppe today, the service manager took pictures and will be getting in touch with Honda UK.
Interestingly mine isn't the first PCX he has had in with broken centrestand mount lugs.

There's an engineering company near me (Halston Engineering) that repairs alloy casings and alloy wheels. I have sent cracked wheels to them a few times to be repaired. They just weld the crack as they have specialist welding equipment for alloy. I don't know if this would be an option if the casing is cracked but not actually broken off yet. They may even be able to attach an extra web to add strength to the pivot.

It seems a bit daft to have the center stand mounted like that anyway. It would be better on the frame instead.
