I emailed DDM Tuning again to ask if they have an HID for the HS5 bulbs in the PCX yet.

Maybe I can get some of these.

I know nothing about this kind of circuitry... guessing this isn't just swapping out bulbs for HID's, is it? You have to install all the relays and cables and stuff?

HIDs run on a high voltage module. I have one in my CBR250R and it is very bright and very white. The Prospicuity is dramatically improved along with the vision at night.

I was talking to a guy at the auto shop he said that he installs HID lights in cars and in motorcycles. I might ask him how much it would cost me for it. He showed me the ballast. I'm just wondering where he would put the ballast. When my husband installs the Signal Dynamics Back Off XP/Brake Light Signal Modular he's also going to put a switch in so that I can use it as a hazard light as well.

The only problem is that the PCX has an odd bulb which is less common to find HID kits for. If you put the wrong shaped bulb in, the beam pattern will be terrible and shine up in the air all over the place.

I will talk to him. He did have different kits for motorcycles and cars. It wasn't the same kit.

Don't bother with HIDs, get foglights!

Can you post a beam shot of the light pattern back from a wall?

I like them for daytime running lights but Amazon states a 25 x 25 degree beam pattern which is too high to use on the street at night. You will dazzle the oncoming drivers and get a ticket. The ADVMonster lights cost a bit more

but I have the 10* spots on my CBR250R and they get wayyy down the road for highway touring in bad weather. Together with the HID headlight bulb and led front running light bulbs the front of the bike is lit up in a hot white light for excellent daytime perspicuity. His 10* spots do still have a bit of splash out to wider angles but I haven't received any undo attention from the cops so far. I would have tried the ADVMonster fog pattern lights if they would have had them when I bought the spots. They seem to have an excellent sharp vertical cut off like an OEM head light which won't blind oncoming drivers and wider horizontal pattern.

I'll see if I can get one tonight. It's hard to do, since most cameras auto-adjust to lighting. I'm not sure if my wife's auto-manual allows you to set the shutter speed, I'll play with it and see though.

Like the high beams, I only flip them on when I'm not behind someone or going towards oncoming traffic. They light up a lot, and probably are too high to be legal. Only time will tell if it'll be an issue, but I somewhat doubt I'll get pulled over for too bright of headlights, especially given the number of cars around here that run HIDs in stock reflectors, shining their light all over the road. You may have the same issue with the stock reflector and HIDs. Since it isn't designed for HIDs, they will likely have too large a beam like my foglights do.

Those ADVMonster lights look nice. If I get pulled over for blinding people, I'll definitely look into em.

Katschamne. sounds like you are riding your scooter on low beam. When I first started riding I did the same thing until a riding friend came back to me and asked me if I had my headlight on. then told me to always run it on bright in the daytime. It does not bother motorist, but you can be seen much better!. Good scootering!!

HID'S have a warmup period I believe and consume more power ? , try the Denali's or something similar .
60 mph is 60 mph , if YOU believe more output is needed , go for it!.

At that speed, it doesn't really matter if the lights work.
I mean, what would we expect to see in the dark?

I would kill 5 or 6 old ladies at the train station, for a used stock PCX headlight. No problem.
