No to all of these, that's a horrible idea. I have heard of people TRAILERING on the center stand too. Gah, it's sad how people ruin their bikes. I'd never do anything like that. If this could have even been remotely my fault from neglect or mistreatment, I wouldn't have submitted the warranty claim.

I'm still waiting on the local shop to get back to me. I had to stop in again to get even more pictures taken, they want to be completely sure that there is no way I could have whacked it on something (that is apparently the most common cause of this failure).

In the meantime, I've been riding it with the center stand bungeed in place. I've gotten quite a few funny looks from it.

I have just heard back from my Honda dealer this weekend, they are replacing the engine case, center stand, mounting pins, and any gaskets that are touched along the way, all under warranty. Parts should be in by this weekend, so I'll drop my bike off for service later this week. They anticipate the whole process taking two people 10 man-hours of labor, so I'm glad I'm not paying for it. :)

honda are really fair with their warranty, the only thing they won't even look at is anything carb or fuel injection related, even if it's a mechanical fault

On the occasions when I have needed warranty work done in the (distant) past, Honda were brilliant as was the dealer who did the work, Victor Devine in Glasgow, I honestly couldn't praise them highly enough.

Good news Maddie. Im mostly using my side stand as a result, easier anyway, and I park on a slope at work.

I never used the side stand either, always the center.

I'm going to keep using the centerstand, I'll just make sure to be really careful with her from now on. :)

The bike finally got back to me last week.

The dealer screwed something up, and she overheated before I even got home. Pushed my poor PCX back to the dealer, they fixed it again, and it is running perfectly now.

But... They broke a fairing in the process. So, a new fairing is on order.

I can't say I'm impressed with my dealer, but I have to admit, Honda has been great about it. They've replaced it all without any fuss at all.

Sounds like a pretty crappy dealer. Let's hope nothing else is messed up in there as a result from the overheating.

It was clicking and not getting any power also, I'm fairly sure they botched the valve job.

I might end up asking for them to extend my warranty... Not sure yet though. I'll probably put another 2-3k miles on it by the time my 1-year warranty is up (probably 1 or 2 500+ mile trips in there), so any issues caused from their mistakes should arise by then.

maybe you should contact HONDA USA?? Make a report of it and see if they can somehow make a record of it. Also, they will probably sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. That always sits right with me =]

Get a Vespa, you can just bash them back into shape if you dent them.
